dignityandpersonalintegrityinalltheirdimensions.”ApersonthatI'vehelpedthatshowsthetypesofhelpwecangivebecauseofyourgenerousdonationsisL.L.isamanwithDownsSyndromewhoisalsohardofhearing.L.isalittlepastmiddleage.TheCirsttimeIwasaskedtohelphimwasabout18monthsago.Allhewasaskingforweresomesheetsandblanketsforhisbed.BecauseIdidnotunderstandthesituationyet,whenIcalledandgotamanwhotalkedloudandwashardtounderstandandkeptcallingtohismotherinanotherroom,IhadtroublesettinguptheCirstvisittomeethim.Acasemanagerintervenedbycallingandgivingmoreinformationandbeingapointofcontact.AttheCirstvisitImetL.andhismotherwhowasquiteelderlyandneededoxygen.WetookabasketofthefoodthatyouprovidethroughyourdonationsandwroteavouchertoSVdPstoreforthebeddingthatL.needed.ThenexttimewehelpedL.wasaboutsixmonthslater.Hismother'shealthhaddeclinedandsheneededongoingcareinahealthfacility.L.hadbeenlivingoffherSocialSecurityandneededhisownbirthcertiCicatetogetmoneyinhisownname.LuckilyhelivedinaHousingHopeApt.andhewasn'tfacingeviction.MoneyyoudonatedallowedustosendachecktothestatethatL.wasbornintogethisbirthcertiCicate.YourdonationsalsopaidforaDartpasssothathecouldtakeabustovisithismother.ThreemonthslaterwehadarequestforabuspasssohecouldvisithismotherforThanksgivingDay.Hismotherdiedafewweekslater.ThenexttimeyourdonationshelpedL.itwastopayforglasses.Hehadalreadyhadaneyeexam,hejustneededthefundsfortheglasses.Hewasrunningariskoffallingwhenherodethebusbecausehecouldn'tseethecurb.RecentlyyourdonationsallowedustohelpL.getanewboxspringforhisbed.Eachtimewe'vevisitedL.we'vealsotakenabasketoffoodprovidedthroughyourdonations.Heisalwaysgratefulforfood.Thewaysyou'vebeenabletohelpL.throughyourdonationstoSVdParenotwhatwetypicallydo.MostlyyourdonationshelppeoplewithPUD,gasoline,food,---ButnoworkofcharityisforeigntotheSociety--ThroughyourdonationstoSVdPyouwereabletoprovideamanwithDownsSyndrome;acomfortablenight'ssleep;safetyashewalked;accesstoSSIbeneCits;visitswithhisdyingmother-includingtheirlastThanksgivingtogether;food;andprobablymostimportantly---SVdPvolunteersprovidealoving,caring,non-judgemental,person-to-person,Christianvisit.Thankyoualwaysforyourdonationswhetherfoodforourpantryormoneyweareverygrateful.
