    through friendship

  • WHAT WE AIM TO DO

    • Develop and support the much valued sense of community within the school (with parents, teachers, students and support staff).

    • Build lasting friendships and support bases for families and parents within the school through the class representative system, and the organisation of social events.

    • Provide an avenue for parents to become actively involved in their class/year group, and the wider school community.

    • Facilitate the building of friendships between parents of all years through participation and support of sporting and music events.

    • Support the school and the wider community by supporting special school events such as Grandparents’ Day and Orientation Day.

    • Raise funds to enable the Auxiliary to contribute to the school and ultimately the girls in a tangible way e.g. specialised subject equipment or sporting equipment.

    • Provide a forum through our meetings for information exchange between the Principal, Head of the Junior School, class representatives and the committee, and discussion of any relevant issue raised by meeting attendees.

    • Provide funding to support the Music Department via music bursaries offered to Junior and Senior music students.

    WHO WE ARE

The St Mary’s Auxiliary (formally Ladies’ Auxiliary) is a group of involved parents who come together to build lasting friendships and social relationships with other parents in the school community, and to support the school in many varied ways throughout each year, while upholding the strong values and ethos of the school. We have a strong base of support for the many activities in which we are involved, and a solid commitment to our school.

    HOW WE GET INVOLVED

Throughout the year we provide energy and expertise at the following events:• Junior School Welcome Morning Tea.• Junior and Senior School interschool and interhouse

swimming carnivals.• Junior School Interhouse Athletics Carnival.• Junior School Grandparents’ Day.• Senior School Orientation Day.• Various music nights during the year.• Music Under the Stars.

We arrange and/or support various social events during the year:

    • Annual Ladies Lunch (our major fundraising activity for the year).

    • Biggest Morning Tea (fundraising for Cancer Council).• Class events organised by class representatives, ranging

from morning teas, father/daughter outings, to parent cocktail parties.

    EVERYONE WELCOME

We invite all members of the school community to be part of the St Mary’s Auxiliary, either as a committee member or a class representative. Nominations are received at the commencement of each new school year, with positions finalised at the first meeting and Annual General Meeting in Week 3 of Term 1. Details and forms can be found on the school website, on the St Mary’s Auxiliary page.

All parents are welcome to attend any of our meetings. They are held on the Wednesday of each 3rd and 7th week of every term, at 1.30pm upstairs in the Senior School Seminar Room.

We look forward to seeing you there!

It is through involvement in our committee that we aim to foster the wonderful sense of

friendship and community that we all enjoy as an integral part

of our time at St Mary’s.
