Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in his sight; Jesus Loves the Little Children of the World… How true it is, that God loves all of us, each one of us. Even the person that each of us may think is unlovable. Jesus invited us many times to “follow me”. What does following Jesus mean? If we are truly followers of Jesus, doesn’t that mean that we will love all those who he loves? Loving others, even those who we find difficult to love, will make a big difference in adding peace to this world. Please join others who are interested in praying for peace on Sunday, September 17 for the Wayne Peace Prayer Walk. The walk will start at 3:00 at the 1
st
Presbyterian Church in Wayne, 216 W 3rd
St. The route will proceed to Calvary Bible, Our Savior Lutheran, 1
st
Methodist, Grace Lutheran and St. Mary’s; a prayer for God’s Love and peace will be shared at each church. Please join us as we pray for God’s peace in our hearts and in our world.

We will highlight three male saints starting with St. Dominic (+1221) who influenced Pier Giorgio Frassati (from Italy), who, in turn, impacted many young people, as well as adults, including St. John Paul II! Learn these men’s secrets for holy lives, how they influenced each other to sainthood, and let them inspire you for your journey of holiness! Friday, 7:30 p.m., to Sunday, after lunch. The Foundational Intimacy: Eucharist as a Model for Marriage, September 30 – October 1, retreat at Saint Benedict Center, Schuyler, with EWTN and Spirit Catholic Radio presenters Jim and Maureen Otremba from Minnesota. Come discover new connections between the Eucharist and marriage. In this energetic presentation, married couples are invited to explore parts of the liturgy including gathering, repentance, breaking open the Word, and partaking of the very Body and Blood of Christ. Applying insights gained and practicing skills for enhancing intimacy, spouses are renewed in their love for the Eucharist and their sacrament of marriage. Includes talks, personal and couple reflection time, Mass and Reconciliation. Saturday, 9:00 a.m., to Sunday, after lunch. Register at www.StBenedictCenter.com or call (402) 352-8819.
From Here to Hope: Our Mission of Mercy, October 14, one-day retreat at Saint Benedict Center, Schuyler, with Father Joseph Nassal, a Missionary of the Precious Blood from Liberty, MO. During the Holy Year of Mercy, Pope Francis encouraged faith communities to open their doors so that all pilgrims might find welcome and experience God’s mercy and compassion. But it is also necessary for people of faith to be ministers of mercy in the world—to go out into the streets to share the mercy of God with those on the margins of life. Today we will explore in both practical and prophetic ways how to live God’s tender mercy in our everyday lives. Program fee: $ 30. Lunch is available at the Center for $ 10.50 (includes tax). Register at www.StBenedictCenter.com or call (402) 352-8819.
One-person Theater: Far as the Eye Can See, October 15, performance celebrating Nebraska’s 150th birthday by actor Pippa White at Saint Benedict Center, Schuyler. This show tells true stories of the prairie and its people: the early pioneers who crossed it, the later pioneers who settled it, the brave people of the Dust Bowl, and the Native American people who struggled to keep the prairie that once belonged only to them. Pippa White calls her unique, captivating, and touching productions “part theater, part storytelling, part history.” She has extensive background in theater and television, including five years as a hostess on daily morning television at ABC in San Francisco, CA. Advance & Senior/Student Tickets $ 7, Tickets (Door) $ 9 Register at www.StBenedictCenter.com or call (402) 352-8819.
You are Enough! A Retreat for Women, October 21 - 22, retreat at Saint Benedict Center, Schuyler, with Mary Guynan, Tonya LeGrande and Vicki Pribil. As women, we try to be it all, do it all, and make it all work for everyone in our lives. We tend to hold ourselves to impossible standards and judge ourselves based on all we are not, yet think we should be. Let God breathe new life into you and know that you are enough. This retreat is for women of all ages. The weekend will include presentations, prayer, guided meditation, shared reflection, opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Adoration and Mass. Saturday, 9:30 a.m., to Sunday, after lunch. Register at www.StBenedictCenter.com or call (402) 352-8819.

If you’re a Catholic “junky” like me, you’ll agree this is an exciting week coming up in the Church. We have St. John Chrysostom’s feast day Wednesday, The Triumph of the Cross Thursday and Our Lady of Sorrows Friday. The entire month of September in fact is devoted to Our Lady of Sorrows.
In this devotion we remember the sufferings Mary endured as co-
redemptrist. The seven sorrows of Mary were foretold by the
priest, Simeon, who proclaimed to Mary, “This child [Jesus] is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed and you yourself shall be pierced with a sword so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare (Luke 2:34-35)”. Mary’s seven sorrows are: the flight to Egypt, finding Jesus in the Temple, meeting Jesus on his journey to Calvary, standing in front of the cross watching her son suffer and die, holding Jesus after he was lifted from the cross, and burying her son in the tomb.
Our Lady revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden in the 1300’s 7 promises granted by her Son, Jesus to anyone who prays daily seven Hail Marys while meditating on her seven sorrows.
1. “I will grant peace to their families.”
2. “They will be enlightened about the Divine Mysteries.”
3. “I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.”
4. “I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my Divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.”
5. “I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.”
6. “I will visibly help them at the moment of their death—they will see the face of their mother.”
7. “I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy.”
This month of September let us unite our sorrows to the great sorrows Mary endured. Let us try to respond to our pains with the same grace, silence and faith that Mary showed us.

That’s why all of our priests, deacons, staff and volunteers attend
our Safe Environment training – a program designed to help them

secure, joy-filled atmosphere for our children.

All men are welcome!
The 2017 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is just beginning in our parish. You will receive information in your homes this week. The Annual Appeal supports the parishes, schools and ministries across the archdiocese. If each of our families would give in proportion to what they have received from God, we would easily reach our goal. As you discern your response to this year's Annual Appeal, prayerfully consider who your neighbors are and how God calls you to love your neighbor as yourself. Do I give joyfully and as generously as God gives to me?
