Friday 4th October 2019 St Matthew’s Friday Feature Black History Month On Tuesday 1st October Mrs Barfield the Inspire Group did an assembly for Black History Month. They told us about lots of influential black people and how they changed the world. In the afternoon, Key Stage 2 studies different famous black people. In 34GS it was Michael Johnson, in 34SW it was Mae Jemison, in 45JB is was Rosa Parks, in 5LW it was Malcolm X and in 6KS it was Aretha Franklin. We enjoyed learning all about these famous black people and found it very interesting. by Jennifer and Joyceline

“On Tuesday 1st October Mrs Barfield the Inspire Group did an assembly for Black History Month. They told us about lots of influential black people and how they changed the world. Year 7 and Reception School Admissions

The online school application portal is now live and this means parents will be able to apply for Reception (starting school for the first time), Secondary and Junior school places to start school in September 2020. The closing dates for school applications are: 31 October 2019 for Secondary school places 15 January 2020 for Reception and Junior school places If a child has an Education, Health & Care Plan the closing date for all applications is 31 October 2019. On the Telford Council website is the school admissions brochure which contains all the important information in relation to school places. Within this document is a FAQ which you may find useful. www.telford.gov.uk/admissions Also, on the webpage is a “how to complete an application guide”. www.telford.gov.uk/admissions

Parents can use the library services to apply for school places. The online system has now been in place for 3 years and this has proven to be very successful for both the council and customers.
