BLOOD DRIVE HERE NEXT SUNDAY 4/02 8:15 AM– 1:15 PM
The reason to donate is simple…it helps save lives. In fact, every two seconds of every day, someone needs blood. Since blood cannot be
manufactured outside the body and has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly
be replenished by generous blood donors. IF YOU CAN, PLEASE DONATE!

SEING TAKES MORE THAN SIGHT India's Project Prakash describes its mission as “Illuminating lives, illuminating science.” It was founded in 2005 by MIT Professor Pawan Sinha, who was seeking to understand the brain’s plasticity by studying blind patients who had recently gained sight through cataract surgeries. He saw an immedi-ate humanitarian potential of helping 200,000-plus blind children in India have a chance for a better life. Much of cataract blindness among Indian children is curable, and the surgical procedure is fairly simple. But what Project Prakash has discovered is that the actual process of teaching the brain to understand the shapes and images it is seeing is exceeding complex. And the older one is when first receiving sight, the more difficult the process. Much of the work that Project Prakash focuses on is the developmental, psychological, and social aspect of healing.
Jesus, acting as both physician and teacher, was well aware of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of “curing” people. In the case of the man born blind, the physical healing took but a few minutes with a little clay and spittle applied to his eyes. But the spiritual healing required patience and practice. Though moved by Jesus’ compassion, the man born blind needed several clashes with authori-ties and flashes of insight before he understood who Jesus really was. That is when he became a true disciple and saw with his heart as well as his eyes. Seeing with such all-encompassing vision is the fundamental mission of all Christians. Patrice J. Tuohy

PRAYER FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS O God of all the nations, the One God who is and was and always will be, in Your providence You willed that Your Church be united to the suffering of Your Son. Look with mercy on Your servants who are persecuted for their faith in You. Grant them perseverance and courage to be worthy imitators of Christ. Bring Your wisdom upon leaders of nations to work for peace among all peoples. May Your Spirit open conversion for those who contradict Your will, that we may live in harmony. Give us the grace to be united in truth and freedom, and to always seek Your will in our lives. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Prayer composed by Archbishop William E. Lori, Supreme Chaplain KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

GuideBook Advertising Opportunity We are in the process of creating and publishing an annual Guide Book for our Parish. This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of our Congregation. The book is being provided at no cost to our Parish, including the mailing to each family, and is being subsidized by local businesses that advertise in it. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call Paul Koppie in the Church Office. Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1 % of families would rather patronize a Guide Book advertiser over a non-advertiser.
