for opportunities to carry out the love of Christ within our parish and community. One of the

corporal works of mercy is to provide a proper funeral Mass and burial for our deceased brothers and sisters. Our parishes of Gate of Heaven and St. Brigid are currently in

significant need of parishioners of any age who would be willing to help serve funeral Masses. Funeral Masses

typically begin between 9:30-11:30am and your availability would be sought several days in advance, and they occur

Mondays through Saturdays. With setup, Mass, and clean up, each funeral would last for a total of an hour and a half.

Training will be provided. Once trained, the serving is quite easy. Please consider helping the parish and the families of

grew up in South Boston they will mention their fond memories as an altar server. We are grateful to the student altar servers that are currently serving our parish at the

Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses. However, we are still in need of more servers. Fr. Casey and Fr. Bennett are putting

out a call to all the youth of the parish to consider serving the Mass. Any student who has received First Communion is in-vited to consider being a server. We are planning on holding a training session at the beginning of July and periodic one as more servers sign up. Please consider helping the parish with

quickly coming to a close (Friday, June 19th-Noon dismissal). Field Day was held on Friday, June 5th always a great day.

Grade 6 students went to Boston University on May 29th to participate in the "cooking up culture" class. The menu was

centered around ancient Greece. We will be having a good luck send off to Miss Margie on

Wednesday, June 17th at 2:30 for her retirement. All families and friends are welcome to attend. Miss Margie has been a dedicated supporter of Catholic education, we are forever

grateful for her many years of service. The school golf tournament was postponed due to rain. The

make-up date will be Monday, July 13th.

Fr. Casey, Pastor and Fr. Bennett and Msgr. Liam will remain as the priests of the first collaborative. Fr. Madden, Pastor and Fr. Souza will be the priests of the second collaborative. As mentioned before, Fr. Madden is currently Pastor in Foxboro and will begin his assignment here in South Boston on June 2, 2015 along with Fr. Souza. Fr. Souza, ordained

in 2013, has been parochial vicar in a collaborative parish in Billerica since his ordination. We

welcome Fr. Madden and Fr. Souza to South Boston. I know they are both looking forward to their

ministry here. Please pray for the success of our Parish collaboratives as we go forward.
