This Wednesday, we celebrate Ash Wednesday and we are asked to devote ourselves to seek the Lord in prayer, to service by giving alms and to pracce self- control through fasng. This way, we become closer to God and one another and grow as a faith community. Prayer: prayer is rising on ones mind and heart to God. The three expressions of prayer are: vocal prayer, meditaon and contemplave prayer. Vocal prayer may be spoken/sung; mental prayer can be either meditaon/ contemplaon. The basic forms of prayer are praise, peon, intercession and thanksgiving. Fasng and Absnence: The purpose of fasng and absnence is spiritual focus, self- discipline, imitaon of Christ and renewal. Through our fasng and absnence, we incorpo- rate our small suffering and sacrifices to the Lords own suffer- ing and sacrifices and thus get renewed in our spiritual life. Almsgiving: Jesus presented almsgiving as a necessary part of Chrisan life: when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the Hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your leſt hand know what your right hand is doing.(Mt 6:2-3) I hope, we can try to be generous during this season of Lent from our Sacrifices to support our diocesan charitable works fund done through the Catholic foundaon appeal and project compassion boxes from Caritas of Australia to help less fortunate in our country and abroad. One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed.(Proverbs 19:17) As a parish community, during this season of Lent, let us all try what is required of us to grow in love of God and neighbour. Our parish community is offering during this Lent, various programs for us to get closer to God and one another. Apart from our daily Mass, we have Lenten reflecon prayer meengs every Tuesday at 7pm in PMR1, every second Friday we have Divine Mercy aſter 12.10 Mass and Staons of the Cross on the evenings of Fridays at 7pm in our Church. So please use some of these spiritual acvies to grow in love of God and neighbour. Wishing you all a season of Holy Lent! Sincerely, Fr Joe Manjaly, MS

Our Parish community has many expenses which are taken

care of through our Stewardship. Many are very faithful in

supporting our parish community. Your support and stew-

ardship are crucial for evangelisation. You can be a part of

this through our Planned Giving Envelopes, Direct Debit or

credit card and giving through the Collection plate during the

Holy Masses. Our weekly collections have been decreasing

over the past few months, so I urge you to please consider

supporting our Parish Planned Giving Program.

MEET CHERYL CLARK

On 26/3/2016 I participated in taking

my final Sacraments to become part of

the Catholic Faith. My initiation

through the RCIA Programme with Ina

& Norm Heffernan & the RCIA Team

was one if the most rewarding & in-

formative introduction to the Catholic

Faith. I am fortunate to now be part of the RCIA Team. I con-

tinually learn more about forming my Relationship with God.

I highly recommend the RCIA Programme to all Parishioners.

During the last three plus years I have wanted to learn more

about God the Father, God the Son & God the The Holy Spirit

and also how I could be part of the Ministries of the Church.

To do this I enquired as to what courses I could do.

Courses:- Reflection Ministry , Themes of Faith & one night

Faith Nourishment session. These are all conducted by IFM.

Minister of the Word, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Com-

munion & Minister for Sick & Dying. These are conducted by

the Office of Worship.

I am privileged to have been nominated and accepted on the

PPL Council & look forward to assisting Father Joe & Father

Jobi in improving the Parish where it is required. Please if

you see me at Mass and would like to know more, I would

look forward to getting to know you.
