In these 10 second moments, take a breath and imagine God being present with you. Bring God back into your awareness. 2. Have an intentional, honest conversation with God each day. God knows your heart and is present with you wherever you are. Allow your true feelings to flow in this conversation. This will look different for each person - it may look like arguing with God, laughing with God, grieving with God, etc. The important part is being as intentional as you are able to be. May the God of comfort, healing, and love be with you throughout this week. QUESTION OF THE WEEK Taken from “Pastoral Patterns” by GIA Publications, Inc. What aspect of my life needs healing? INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY OF THE DAY Taken from “Pastoral Patterns” by GIA Publications, Inc.

Today is World Mission Sunday, when we focus on the mission of the Church, which is to bring the Good News to the whole world. When we think of missionaries, we think of men and women who have dedicated their lives to bringing the gospel to people in Third World countries. But we are all missionaries, witnessing by our own lives to the good news we have come to know in the Lord. Let us recommit ourselves to that mission as we celebrate the Eucharist.

God offers comfort, consoling, and healing in today’s readings. God brings His people together - including the blind, lame, etc., to guide them all forward. We hear a similar story in the Gospel as Jesus brings the blind man, Bartimaeus, forward to heal and guide him into new life.

Bartimaeus calls out for Jesus repeatedly for healing, just as many of us call on Jesus for comfort, support, and help in times of trouble and loss. While we call and seek out Jesus, it is often challenging for me to feel Jesus’ loving guidance spurring me on in times of sorrow. We may feel stuck in a moment, not sure of what to do next or not understanding why something bad happened. The gathering of people into new life doesn’t always fit into what we may be experiencing. Yet in this time of the unknown, the readings offer a flicker of hope. Jeremiah puts this well, saying, “With weeping they shall come, but with compassion I will guide them”. (Jer. 31:9) Hope can exist amidst sorrow, because God is still present for each of us, walking with us through it all. God offers us each comfort, healing, and guidance. Wherever you are, God is with you.

Throughout this week, I would encourage you to try two things: 1. Stop for several 10 second periods throughout each day. In these 10

second moments, take a breath and imagine God being present with you.

SACRAMENT SUPPORT NOTES: Do you enjoy writing and supporting your fellow parishioners? We have plenty of kids receiving sacraments this year! We would like to give notes of encouragement throughout the year to our students going through Sacramental Preparation. If you are interested in writing supportive notes to our youth who will be receiving Confirmation or First Eucharist/First Reconciliation this year, please reach out to Alyssa at [email protected] or 712-485-2754. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - MISSION SUNDAY: We are now accepting donations for the following missions. Donations will be divided evenly between the two unless otherwise noted on your donation. Please be generous.

1. World Mission Sunday gathers support for the pastoral and evangelizing programs and needs of more than 1,150 mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and remote regions of Latin America. The funds gathered on World Mission Sunday are distributed in the pope’s name by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith -- a Pontifical Mission Society.

2. The U.S. bishops established the Catholic Home Missions Appeal in 1998 to support the missions here in America. The Appeal primarily supports home mission dioceses, that is, those unable to offer their people the basic pastoral ministries of word, worship, and service without outside help. It may also give grants to other dioceses for particular projects and to organizations and religious communities engaged in missionary work.

For the winter months when Mass is at 4:00, Reconciliation will be from 3:15 to 3:50. In the summer months when Mass is at 5:30, Reconciliation will be from 4:45 to 5:20. Since Father will be going home to Nigeria for a visit, we will not be starting this until he returns.

We welcome you into God’s family! If you are interested in learning more about our church, or would like to join, please pick up a registration form at one of the entrances of the church, stop by the parish office, or call Father Sylvester for an appointment.
