DIGITAL ROLE MODELING FOR ADULTS
With Officer Kent Lepak : THURSDAY, MAY 25th, 2017
7:00 –8:30pm at St. Bronislava’s Parenting today’s “tech savvy” children and young people can seem over-
whelming, but you can do it! It’s challenging to talk to your children about
the dangers of cell phone usage & internet, educate yourself about what is
happening in the cell phone world, use parental controls, set ground rules,
follow your children on Facebook, and much more! Are YOU a good digital
role model?
Kent Lepak, an officer with the St. Pt. Police Department, is speaking about
how to safeguard your children’s cell phones. He will offer tips about smart phone use which involves internet
safety, texting/sexting, picture sharing, social media & common sense. All adults are welcome to attend!

A Novena is a tradition
Of praying a certain
Prayer for nine days. Its
Origin dates back to the
Nine days that the Apostles
and Mary spent together in prayer between
the Ascension of Jesus into Heaven and the
Coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. This novena was first prayed at the direction of
Our Lord Himself when He sent the Apostles back
to Jerusalem to pray and wait “until you are
clothed with power from on high” by the coming
of the third Person of the Blessed Trinity.

Thanks Be to God for Mothers!
We celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday. I wish each mother a blessed day and send my thanks to God for each of you. We don’t recognize the im-portance of our mothers enough. If your mother is still with you on earth make sure you let her know you love her. If your mother has passed send a prayer to her and give thanks for the blessings of mothers. The readings we hear on this Fifth Sunday of Easter highlight aspects of what our mothers do for us. Acts 6:1-7 tells of the institution of the deacon-ate; the role of service within the Church. Mothers are all about service to their family. They sacrifice on behalf of their children and husband to make sure the house is kept up and meals are provided; often on top of working full time outside the home. The reading from 1 Peter (2:4-9) speaks of Jesus being the cornerstone. I envision this cornerstone to be the keystone of the arch which holds up the entire structure. Mothers certainly mirror this in most families; they are the ones everyone in the family goes to for help and direction. Mothers hold up and hold together the family in many ways; especially spiritually. The Gospel reading from John 14:1-12 is part of the Last Supper Dis-course. Jesus is preparing His disciples for His suffering and death. Jesus shows His love by the words of encouragement to the disciples who are trou-bled. How often does a mother send loving words our way to build us up and encourage us to be our best? How often does a mother prepare her children for the struggles of life she knows they will face? Mothers comfort us in our times of trouble and keep us on the right path when we stray. God’s blessing to all mothers! Enjoy your special day. Deacon Ray
