Such faith is not easy. Even St. Theresa of Calcutta had periods of doubt, but she prayed to discern Gods will for her and did it regardless of her doubt. We may not achieve the accomplishments and gain the notoriety of St. Theresa, but we can be persistent in prayer to know Gods will for us. God does not ask any more of us than that. But he does ask that.

GOSPEL SUMMARY Luke 18:1-8

“There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being.”

Sadly that describes many people in power in the time of Jesus and in our own time. But Jesus describes a woman whose persistence moves the self-centered judge to render a just judgment. Notice that Jesus does not say that the judge ruled in favor of the woman. Just that his decision was JUST. That is what the woman was so persistent to obtain. In contrast to that judge, God wants what is right and just for us. But that may not be what we want. We should pray for God to reveal what HE wants FOR US. Often our prayer is what WE want FROM GOD. When we are persistent in prayer to learn God’s will for us we grow in our faith. Such faith is not easy. Even St. Theresa of Calcutta had periods of doubt, but she prayed to discern God’s will for her and did it regardless of her doubt. We may not achieve the accomplishments and gain the notoriety of St. Theresa, but we can be persistent in prayer to know God’s will for us. God does not ask any more of us than that. But he does ask that.

All Souls Day: This year All Souls Day is on the

first Saturday in November, Nov. 2. Mass will be held ONLY at St. Henry for the Fir st Saturday and All Souls Day. If the weather permits we will process at the end of Mass to the cemetery for a special blessing. This is a special day where the Church throughout the world remembers our beloved departed. Though your loved ones may not be St. Henry Cemetery, this Mass allows all of us to remember our beloved dead.

Workshop on Planning your Funeral Wake and Mass: Father often hears a request for time to

help prepare the Funeral Wake/Visitation and Mass. On Saturday, November 2, after the All Souls Day Mass there will be a workshop offered at St. Henry at 10:15 am and Sunday November 3 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Parish Hall. There is no cost involved. The workshop will include the Catholic understanding of Death and Burial, the importance of a Wake/Visitation and Funeral Mass and how to plan for these. Handouts and materials will be distributed. If you have any questions contact Fr. Greg or Deacon Randy.

TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUN-DAY. We celebrate this day by re-membering our baptismal call—to bring the Gospel to all! The collection today for the Society for the Propaga-tion of the Faith ensures the work and service of the Mission Church, as it supports priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulner-able communities in the Pope’s mis-sions. Thank you for your generosity.
