Thank you for your stewardship to St. Thomas the Apostle.

Stewardship Message

In today’s reading from the Gospel of Luke we hear the proclamation of the baptism of Jesus with “all the people.” Indeed, “heaven was opened,” and the Father announced his special favor. Whenever we partake of the body and blood of Christ, heed his call in our daily lives, share his Good News, become instruments of his transforming justice and peace, heaven is opened to us, and through the Holy Spirit, the Lord announces his special favor on us as well. A good stewardship reflection this week might be this: How, or in what ways, have we personally experienced God’s special favor in our lives?

Daily Readings

Monday: Heb 1: 1-6; Mk 1: 14-20 Tuesday: Heb 2: 5-12; Mk 1: 21-28 Wednesday: Heb 2: 14-18; Mk 1: 29-39 Thursday: Heb 3: 7-14; Mk 1: 40-45 Friday: Heb 4: 1-5, 11; Mk 2: 1-12 Saturday: Heb 4: 12-16; Mk 2: 13-17 Sunday: Is 62: 1-5, 1 Cor 12: 4-11; Jn 2: 1-11

Let Us Pray, Lord, in your loving mercy please bless your servants who are in need of healing and strength: Mark Cecil, David Cruser, Calvin Cox, Doletta Downing, Peggy Eichner, Bill Garst, Joe Gehring, Erica Holifield, Karen Kelly, Faith Martinez, Beth Shine, Thelma Smock, Mary Weir all the sick and suffering from our parish, those serving in the military, and our homebound, hospitalized and nursing home residents.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Religious Education Youth Sunday Breakfast Today

On January 20th, Peace Workshop Sunday, we will have a very special presentation from Sandra Hartlieb of the Sisterhood Drama Company. Sandra is the DRE at St. Lawrence parish. Her dramatic presentation is titled “Rooted in the Word”. The presentation will start im-mediately following the 8:00 AM Mass in the big room. This presentation is open to everyone in the parish. Sandra has visited St. Thomas previously to present one of her dramas.

We are now in the depths of the winter season and weather conditions will become unpredictable and change rapidly. In the event of RE classes being can-celled due to bad weather conditions the announce-ment will first be posted on Facebook and then an email will be sent out to the entire list of families par-ticipating in our program by 7am. The catechists will also call each family to notify them of the cancelation. If at any time during this season you feel that condi-tions for travel where you live are dangerous, please use your best judgement when deciding to attend RE. Do not endanger yourselves to get to RE.

Thank you to all of the students who participated in the ACRE testing last weekend. The results give us an accu-rate rating on how our program is doing and helps us to deliver the best possible program-ming and improvements to already existing programs.

Godspeed,

Theresa

OUR CONDOLENCES

To the Family of Lou Faenzi Sr. parishioner of St. Thomas , who passed away on January 8, 2019. Funeral Services were held Saturday, at St. Michael in Greenfield. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

A STEWARDSHIP PRAYER

for the New Year

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of a new year. You have entrusted us with the coming days, weeks

and months as stewards of your divine plan; to live in gratitude, joy, and an ever growing confidence in

your Kingdom to come.

We ask for the humility to reform our lives; the cour-age to commit ourselves to you no matter the cost; and the wisdom to shine the light of faith on others.

Open our hearts, give us your Spirit and show us how to share your love so that we may bring hope to a

world in need of your justice and peace.

We pray to be a sign of your grace in this new year through your son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and

ever.

Amen
