Our annual Angel Tree, which benefits the boys from Goodland Academy in Hugo, OK, and the Treehouse children, is up in the nar-thex. Please remember to fill out the appro-priate sign-up sheet when you take an angel; it really helps us keep track of things. Thank you!

From the 150th Anniversary Committee Commemorative 150th Anniversary Christmas ornaments, $10 each, are available for purchase in the narthex. Look for the ta-ble with the display tree—it is near the buffet on the east wall of the narthex—and get your ornament soon. Anthem From Everlasting to Everlasting Adam La SpataGive praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful works. Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles and judgments, you His chosen ones. He remembers His covenant forever, the promise He made, for a thousand generations. To us, He gave this decree and this land as our inheritance. Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and worthy to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. Worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness. Tremble before Him, all the earth! Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!” Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever―from everlasting to everlasting. Amen!

Welcome!

We are delighted that you have joined us for worship today and pray that you experience the presence of Jesus Christ in our midst. For more information about St. Andrew and

our ministry together, please stop by the Visitor’s Welcome Center in the narthex. If you are interested in becoming a member of this congregation, we will gladly provide you with that information.

The Advent wreath is given to the glory of God by Ruth Davis Jones in memory of family and friends.

Today is the 150th anniversary of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, organized in 1862. After worship, there will be a catered luncheon in the recreation center as part of our celebration. We give thanks for God’s love through the century and a half of this congregation’s life, and for the promise of God’s continuing faithfulness in the future.

Today’s anthem was composed by new member Adam La Spata specifically for today’s worship service. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from North Park University in Chicago and a master’s degree in musicology from Northern Illinois University. He is currently a first-year doctoral student in musicology at the University of North Texas where his primary research interests are sacred music and music history pedagogy. An active conductor and composer, Adam’s works have been performed throughout northern Illinois and in France. He is active in the music ministry at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton, Texas where he plays handbells and sings in the choir with his wife, Michelle.

Mezzo Soprano Jessie Hinkle is a graduate of the University of North Texas and The Manhattan School of Music from which she holds, respectively, her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees. Since graduating, she has performed on some of the world’s most respected opera stages, concert halls and on Broadway. In 2010, she starred in a One Act opera at Weill Hall that was written specifically for her. She was the Alto Soloist at St. Andrew from 1998-2000.

Diaconate Begins Prayer Ministry Our diaconate is forming a new prayer ministry for our congregation. They have created four prayer teams which will meet regularly to pray for those for whom prayers and support have been requested. Prayer Request forms are in the pew racks to fill out if you want to par-ticipate in this new ministry. You may then either place the form in the collection plate or slip it into the prayer box on the buffet just inside the door to the parlor. All requests will remain confidential, and you can provide as much or as little information as you feel so led. This new ministry begins this month.

Advent AdventureDecember 2, Fellowship Hall, 4:00-6:00pm

Young and old alike are invited to our annual intergenerational Advent craft event in Fel-lowship Hall this evening from 4:00-6:00pm. Craft tables and centers geared for various ages make up a big part of the fun. Board games will be on hand for those who don’t craft. Tacos and drinks will be provided, so bring a favorite finger food to share and come enjoy the fun.

Service for WholenessTuesday, December 4, 6:00pm

This informal service affirms God’s love for us in the face of spiritual and perhaps physical pain and suffering. It is a way for us to be present with one another in love. Consisting of a short meditation from the minister, responsive reading, and prayer, the service offers a quiet and contemplative environment conducive to prayer. The service concludes with the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

Plan to join them in the sanctuary at 4:30pm on December 9th as they re-enact the story of the birth of the Christ Child. Our annual Christmas dinner will immediately follow the pageant. The boys from the Good-land Academy of Hugo, Oklahoma, will join us for dinner in Fellowship Hall. So plan to come celebrate the season with them and our congregation the evening of December 9th.

*Opening Prayer Lisa PattersonxConfession of Sin (unison)

Almighty God, as we praise you for the 150 years of this congregation’s history, we also confess that we have not always been true to our calling and faithful in our discipleship to Jesus Christ. we have often failed to love and serve you with all that is in us, and have chosen instead to love and serve lesser gods. in fact, we have sometimes presumed to be our own god. And, Lord, we also have failed to love the neighbor as the self, and have often regarded our own needs as supreme, while relegating the needs of others to last place. Forgive us, Lord, cleanse and renew us through today’s celebration of your love in our midst. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (silent confession)

Kyrie (Hymnal No. 565) Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Declaration of Pardon Leader: Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.People: in Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

*Passing the PeaceLeader: Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us share the peace of Christ with

one another. The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.People: And also with you.The congregation may exchange with one another, by words and gesture, signs of peace and reconciliation.

*Gloria PatriGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

Amen!

responding to God’s word*Apostles’ Creed (unison)

i believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. i believe in the holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
