Celebrating longstanding partnerships: Standard Air & Lite

Members of the UTC Climate, Controls & Security team were recently on hand to recognize a milestone of a longtime partner. Standard Air & Lite, a wholesale HVAC distributor based in Pittsburgh, Penn., celebrated its 75th anniversary in November. Approximately 200 guests, including Carrier dealers and Standard Air & Lite employees, attended a celebratory dinner at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh on Nov. 20.

Chris Nelson, President, HVAC Systems and Services North America, was among those celebrating the milestone. Noting the connection between Pittsburgh and the roots of the HVAC industry, he noted that it was on a foggy train platform in that very city where a young Willis Carrier first conceived of the concept of modern air-conditioning.

He went on to congratulate the Standard Air & Lite team for strong legacy and future opportunities.

“Seventy-five years in business is a major accomplishment,” he noted. “When you’re in business for that long, your work takes on a higher purpose. You’re creating a legacy that lives on for generations.”

Other speakers at the event included Tom Baney, President of Standard Air & Lite. Bob Wilson, the company’s CEO, received a surprise recognition in honor of his upcoming retirement.

Standard Air & Lite is a full service wholesale distributor serving the HVAC contractor in Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia and Eastern Ohio since 1940. It is a full-service Carrier distributor – supporting centrifugal chillers to room units.
