Luke has been attending CCUSD since 5 th grade. He attended Desert Willow Elementary School and Sonoran Trails Middle School. Cactus Shadows Alum – What are they doing now?

• Veronica Blascoe (CSHS '16) of Cave Creek, AZ has been named to the Fall 2018 Dean's List at Bradley University. Those full-time students who earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale are given the distinction of being placed on the University's Dean's list for their outstanding scholastic achievement.

• Dylan Hartman (CSHS '12) - Dylan is highlighted in this clip as a Phoenix suns flyer - he played soccer while he attended Cactus Shadows. One of the announcers, Sarah Kezele, is a 2007 graduate and Brandi Adkins, a 2010 graduate is a SUNS Dancer. https://www.iqmediacorp.com/ClipPlayer/…

• Kyle Kirby (CSHS ’14) – Kyle has been with the Arizona National Guard, following his father’s footsteps. He normally works the Honor Guard, but is getting ready to deploy overseas. Kyle also stood guard, at the head of Senator McCain’s casket, for an hour – without movement. In Mrs. Kirby’s email she said, “We wanted to let you know you helped us raise a good person. We thought you would be proud since not everyone is college bound.” Mrs. Kirby added that Kyle's father, Michael, is also being deployed oversees. Thank you for your service, Kirby Family.

Channel 12’s “Jimmy Q” Celebrates National Weatherman’s Day… James Quinones “Jimmy Q” 12 News celebrated National Weatherman's Day with Cactus Shadows Life Skills students today. You may recall, he challenged Ms. DeVito (Speech Pathologist) to get 200 people to “like” and follow his Facebook page - well it happened! Thank you, Jimmy Q and CCUSD Community.

Sonoran Trails Middle School 8th Grade Girls… The STMS Girls 8th Grade Basketball Team won the Championship this past month.

Lone Mountain Elementary School’s Weather Club… Lone Mountain Elementary School's Weather Club has returned! Thank you to Mr. Quinn for bringing this awesome club back for our 4th, 5th and 6th graders.

Girl Scout Troop 941… Girl Scout Troop 941 worked hard on the half day of school this past month to clean up and beautify Horseshoe Trails Elementary School Campus.

Sonoran Trails Middle School Cheer… Sonoran Trails Middle School Cheer took 3rd Place at a competition this past month out of 10 teams. Most recently, the Stingers were named First Place Champions at US Nationals and were also named GRAND CHAMPIONS at the same event!

2019 Flag Football National Champions… These Horseshoe Trails Elementary School students played in the 2019 Flag Football National Championship in Orlando, FL with their Cave Creek Elite team. They competed against teams from Florida, Massachusetts and North Carolina. We hear it was a FIERCE competition and the Cave Creek Elite team WON the 2019 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE! Congratulations to Brock Cashin, Max Wilson, Logan Crudo, Luke Jacobs and their teammates!

DonorsChoose… Lone Mountain Elementary School PALS Class has a DonorsChoose: Pre-Vocational Work Skills Complete Training Sets. These sets are each individually leveled and progressively build upon skills that help build simple work skills, work hardening, and attention to detail. They work on fine motor, sorting, counting, and production. They also help build self-esteem when they complete a task. Foothills Caring Corps is a local non-profit agency that provides a variety of non-medical services for older adults and individuals with disabling conditions through a large force of volunteers. FCC provides services to those living in Carefree, Cave Creek, North Scottsdale and North Phoenix. At Foothills Caring Corps students would have the opportunity to be matched with our Neighbors for a variety of services. They could assist a Neighbor with grocery shopping, mobile meals delivery, or be matched up as a friendly visitor to stop in and visit with them once a week. Many older adults also need assistance with computers or smart phones and could use the help of a younger person to walk them through how to use a new device. For Your Information PVCC At Black Mountain Save the Date: March 7 –PVCC at Black Mountain-STEAMtastic & Star Party Extravaganza: 5:00p – 8:00pm. Activities will showcase science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, music, and much, much more. After 7:00 PM the outside lights will be turned off for our Star Party in PVCC Black Mountain’s Astronomy Observatory. Explore the night sky through high-powered telescopes with the help of PVCC Astronomy faculty and the Phoenix Astronomical Society. March 28 – 7:00 - 9:45pm – PVCC at Black Mountain Star Party 6:30 – 9:45 PM for a free community Star Party. Participate in hands-on activities, and observe the night skies of Cave Creek through high-powered telescopes. The event is a partnership with PVCC faculty and the Phoenix Astronomical Society.
