COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP A Hall of Fame Committee (the “Committee”) will determine which candidates are selected to the W.T. Woodson Athletic Hall of Fame. The Committee shall be comprised of following members (each a “Trustee”): 1. W.T. Woodson Director of Student Activities (or her/his designee); 2. President of the W.T. Woodson Athletic Booster Club (or her/his designee); 3. Other W.T. Woodson alumnus, coaches (current or former), administrators and faculty (current or former), and community members selected by the individuals in # 1 and 2 above.

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP • The Committee will have a minimum of five and a

maximum of fifteen Trustees.

• Trustees will be selected based on their knowledge and experience with the W.T. Woodson athletic program.

• Trustees need not be currently associated with Woodson High School to qualify.

• The acting Director of Student Activities or his/her

designee will chair the Committee.

TERM • Each Trustee other than the Woodson Director of

Student Activities and the President of the W.T. Woodson Athletic Booster Club is appointed to a three year term, and may seek reappointment after the conclusion of her/his term.

• After the initial three year period, no more than two-

thirds (2/3) of the Trustees will remain on the Committee. It is desired that at least three new Trustees will be appointed every three years.

15 members • 1 Director of Student Activities (Co-Chair) • 1 Booster President –Alumni • 1 Vice President/Alumni (Co-Chair) • 1 1 Former Assistant Principal/Alumni • 2 Former (retired) DSA’s • 3 Longtime Coaches • 2 Alumni/Coaches • 4 Alumni – Athletes/Parents/Announcer

84

Develop solid criteria to support integrity of program • Members of HOF Committee not eligible

Categories - Athletes, Coaches & Contributors • Athletes - must be out of school minimum of 5 years

(can include athletes in Olympic sports even if not played at WTW – e.g., ice skating, water polo)

• Coaches – must be retired 5 years • Contributors – individuals who have provided WTW

significant support over many years

87

Develop Nomination Form Who Can Nominate?

• Coaches (present & past) • Faculty/Administration (present & past) • Alumni (all or those who were WTW athletes?) • Parents (present & past)

Nomination forms reviewed & voted on by HOF Committee • Voting criteria consistent with Committee by-

laws

88

NOMINATIONS • To be considered by the Committee for selection into

the Hall of Fame, an individual needs to be nominated by a Trustee or by a current or former Woodson player, coach, administrator or parent.

• Nominations remain active for five years from the date

of the initial nomination at which time they can be nominated again or their names will be put back into the pool.

89

Number of Inductees • Initial class – 8-12 Inductees + 5 who already have parts of school

named after them & been retired 5 years • Induct around 5-9 next four years (2013-16) • Reduce to 3-6 every 2-3 years starting 2018

Track Demographics of Inductees • Need to keep track - if we don’t, someone else will • Attempt to maintain balance of sports, age, geographic, gender and

race/ethnicity • Recognize that some sports have more history than others, it’s up to

Committee to keep balance

• Prioritize living older inductees • Younger candidates (statistically) have time to be inducted later
