How can the BCC help you with your project?
Planning
Study Design (and its relationship to analysis)
Statistical/Mathematical Analysis
Interpretation of Results
Planning Brainstorming Interpreting statistical results found in related studies Revising Research Questions to best utilize statistical methods Determining the type of data that you will need to gather or
collect Determining how you will gather or collect that data• Existing Data (e.g., chart review)• Survey• Pre/Post Assessment• Experiment
(Statistical) Study DesignDetermining what variables need to be
measured/recordedDetermining appropriate data collection instrumentsSurvey designExperimental designDetermining sample size requirements
(power analysis)Establishing a timeline of data collectionAssist in developing and writing an evaluation plan
Data Management and Analyses
Help you to organize and manage your data (spreadsheets, etc.)
Answer questions regarding the use of statistical/mathematical software
Conduct analysesProduce graphs, tables, etc.
Interpretation of ResultsProvide written summaries of the statistical
analyses
Meet to discuss the results and how they may apply to the client’s field
Common Statistical Analyses
Investigating a single variable…• Categorical data:
o Frequency Table (counts and percentages)o Bar Grapho Confidence Interval for a Population Proportion
• Quantitative data:o Summary statistics (mean, median, standard deviation,
etc.)o Graphs: Histogram, Boxplot, Dotploto Confidence Interval for a Population Mean
Common Statistical Analyses
Comparing Two Groups with Quantitative Data…• Summary Statistics and Graphs• Two-Sample t-test• Paired t-test• Nonparametric Statistics:
o Mann-Whitney Testo Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test
Summary Statistics

Common Statistical Analyses
Comparing Three or More Groups with Quantitative Data…• Summary Statistics and Graphs• Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)• Repeated Measures ANOVA• Multiple Comparisons• Nonparametric Statistics: Kruskal-Wallis Test
Common Statistical AnalysesInvestigating Relationships…• Categorical Variables:
o Cross-tabulations and Bar Graphso Chi-Square Test or Fisher’s Exact Test
• Quantitative Variables:o Correlation and Scatterploto Linear Regression
• Other Relationships…o Multiple Regression (2 or more predictor variables)o Logistic Regression (modeling/predicting a binary response)o Ordinal Regression (modeling/predicting an ordinal response)
How Much do we Charge for our Services?
Meetings and/or analyses that can be completed in three hours or less are offered at no charge.
The fee for additional services (over and above the initial three hours) will be $40 per hour. An estimate of the time required can be provided following the initial meeting.
Writing a Grant Proposal? Consider including BCC for assistance with the statistical analysis?
