Schedule
• 09-10.06 Partial commissioning with Ar and 4-5 supermodules
• 11.06 Purifier and Membrane modules Closed-loop operation with Ar possible

Exhaust line surroundingthe full detectorpermanently flushedwith CO2.
Two or three detector modules are connected to the same return line.
The gas supply is individual.Three capillary lines per module.
Height zone ~1.2 mp = 0.4 mbar
On the detetcor:1) The pressure sensor for the active pressurecontrol of each height zone.2) A bubbler (two ways) connects each module to the exhaust line.

The CO2 back-up system
• Cumbersome, fires rarely, not écolo
(~100 l/h continuous CO2 flow)
• Decided to keep it anyway (O2)
• Replace CO2 by N2 ?
• ...
TRD C.M. Cheile Gradistei 26.09.05 C. Garabatos, GSI 6
Concerns with bubblers
1. Bubblers produce pressure fluctuations of several mbar
2. Bubblers may produce an increasing overpressure with increasing flow (~10 l/h)
3. Bubblers may spill oil into the detector
Design our own!

2nd prototype: many small holes
• 1.5 mm holes• Should be perfectly aligned• Thin holes• Extra horizontal grid• Small and simple
