Building a Strong Workforce in Hillsboro
School-to-Career (STC) connects businesses to the future workforce…
Are you looking to expand your workforce? Do you have opportunities at your firm to
mentor ambitious Hillsboro & Beaverton students? STC is a Hillsboro Chamber department that
facilitates internships and job shadows for thousands of businesses and students in the Hillsboro
and Beaverton school districts.
In October, STC celebrates Manufacturing Day through site visits where students and
local leaders hop on school buses and visit local manufacturers throughout Washington County.
STC facilitates practice pitches that prepare students for entrepreneur booths at Tuesday
Marketplace and organizes career presentations that connect students to leaders in diverse
industries.

BUSINESS WALK—Spring, 2016
Business Walk is an incredible business outreach event that includes Hillsboro
businesses, city leaders, and community partners. Volunteer teams visit up to
250 different businesses in 4 hours to learn about their needs and gauge input
on how the Chamber, City and community can support local businesses. Funds
for Business Walk enable Chamber staff to spend valuable time towards
complex planning and execution while also providing lunch to volunteers and
staff after a long day. Sponsorships range from $250-$1000.
OnTopic—September to June
OnTopic is a quarterly business education opportunity that covers
community-wide issues that affect businesses. Each month, every
quarter, the events director organizes this event that promotes policy
awareness, provides significant community updates, and supports
businesses’ connection to local, national, and global innovations. Support
helps Chamber staff dedicate time to choosing the most relevant topics
and guests, cater a beautiful lunch, and reserve a comfortable space for
businesses to eat, network, and learn. Sponsorship currently $500.
CHAMBER GOLF SCRAMBLE—September 12, 2016
The Chamber Golf Scramble is an event to facilitate fun & relaxation for our
businesses & community partners that love sunshine, a stunning golf course,
incredible food, and comradery. The Golf Scramble is a truly valuable event
for the Chamber because it supports staff efforts to provide year round
services to members and the local business community from policy
committees to marketing assistance. Sponsorships range from $500-$3000.
BYB SPONSOR—September to June
Building Your Business is a monthly small business workshop that covers a
variety of topics that include marketing, costs/profits, human resources, and
technology. Each month, Chamber staff researches relevant topics, selects a
speaker, markets the workshop to the business community and tracks
attendee satisfaction and interest in workshop subjects. This low cost
business learning opportunity allows small businesses and start-ups develop
needed tools for growth and expansion. BYB sponsorships keep workshop
costs low so that advancement of business skills and learning are accessible to
everyone. Sponsorship currently $135 (subject to change in January).
NET @ NITE SPONSOR—September to June
Net @ Nite is the Chamber’s quarterly networking
event held in the evening. At Net @ Nite, businesses
can enjoy a cocktail or cold brew and appetizers while
making necessary business connections and/or new
friends. Each quarter, Chamber staff identifies a
terrific venue for food, drinks, and networking and
works diligently to market this opportunity among
new businesses and Chamber members who need
business connections. Net @ Nite revenue provides a
fundamental relationship building service for small
businesses. Sponsorship is currently $250.
The Hillsboro Chamber is proud to provide engaging and exciting events to

FARM FRESH DINNER—August, 2016
Farm Fresh is the Chamber’s 2nd annual summer celebration of our
agricultural roots with a farm-to-fork style dinner at Unger Farms. This
outdoor dinner will showcase local farm fresh ingredients- planned and
prepared by expert chefs paired with regional beer and wines. Farm Fresh
highlights the importance of local agriculture and sustainability through
community and business engagement. Sponsorships range from $500-
$3000.
