Position Title BHP– High Voltage Operations Specialist Intern Location Perth, WA Position Duration Minimum of 152 hours or 4 weeks full time Commencing December 2019 Position Overview The HV Operations Specialist assists the maintenance teams to operate and maintain the Power systems including Power stations and the Transmission and Distribution networks across the Pilbara. BHP– High Voltage Operations Specialist Intern

Position Overview

The HV Operations Specialist assists the maintenance teams to operate and maintain the Power systems including Power stations and the Transmission and Distribution networks across the Pilbara.

Responsibilities will include:

Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct, relevant statutory obligations and internal policies

Ensure that all network interruptions are investigated, so as to eliminate repetition, focusing on equipment reliability and availability

Contribute to long term network planning and strategy

Actively engage and coach field staff to adopt "best practice" when performing high voltage maintenance work

Undertaking continuous improvement initiatives in line with department targets and goal

Work effectively with other team members, including contractors, to better understand and manage network and equipment maintenance and resolve problems

Assist with the Capital, Maintenance and Operations budget formulation and review process

Ensure Engineering designs, scopes, reports and other engineering documents conform to BHP and Australian Standards.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with other teams

You will ideally possess some of the following or are interested in developing the following:

Tertiary Electrical Engineering qualifications at the Degree level

High voltage maintenance and operations experience

Understanding of Electrical Australian Standards and legislation (including Electricity Regulations, MSIR, OH&S, Australian Standards)

Understanding of high voltage electrical transmission and distribution systems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Advanced Computer Systems and Software Skills

Project Management experience

Ideal Degree/Discipline

Electrical Engineer

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Permanent residents and Australian citizens only

Identify as having disability

Candidates may be required to undergo a background check security clearance
