*Ballet

Ballet is a beautiful style of dance, and is a crucial aspect of training for all dancers. It teaches students deportment,

gives them strength and flexibility and of course, beautiful graceful movement. Not all of us will be Prima Ballerinas,

but everyone can enjoy Ballet and gain the benefits from it.

*Tap

Whether it be Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire or Dein Perry and the Tap Dogs, Tap is an incredibly fun and "noisy" style

of dance. Once you start tapping you will never stop!!! Tap students wear shoes with special metal tap plates on the

bottom. Tapping is full of great rhythmic patterns and teaches children incredible coordination and a great sense of

music and rhythm.

*Jazz

Jazz is the most diverse form of Dance, ranging from old musical styles of Jazz through to the modern styles you see

on the latest top 40 video clips!!!! Flexibility, strength and. coordination are all benefits you gain from Jazz, but most

of all, Jazz is simply great fun, dancing to all your favorite songs you hear on the radio today!!!

*Modern

Modern dance is both expressive and contemporary, ranging in movements that can be lyrical and soft, to abstract and

angular. It has a strong technical basis, and is a very popular form of dance now studied at schools in HSC level.

*Hip Hop

These fantastic classes bring all of the most up to date Hip-Hop moves you see on the current video hits and brings it

directly into the studio. The movements are broken down so even if you have never danced before, you can hop into a

level that best suits your ability. Students relate to current music therefore the exercises are choreographed to the

freshest chart music.

*KTL (Kicks, Turns & Leaps)

The exciting class focusses on learning new and popular techniques for kicks, turns and leaps. Students focus entirely

on these 3 disciplines, concentrating on perfecting their technique so that they can add some more WOW factor to

their dancing skills. We highly encourage all students 7yrs & over to attend one of these classes per week.

*Stretch & Strengthen

These 30 minute classes are for all ages and focus on flexibility and strength that are important for the dancer. We

highly encourage all dance students to attend at least one Stretch & Strengthen Class a week.

*ZUMBA

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin music and easy-to-follow dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate

interval training, alternating fast and slow rhythms and resistance training. Zumba's fans say it's so popular because

learning skills that are in dance routines and can be executed on a dance floor. Students must be dancers to

attend this class.

*Trampolining

The 2 competition size trampolines, mini tramp, double mini tramp, exercise tramps, full sprung floor and

other training aids are the centre of our wonderful trampolining classes. The classes are open to both boys

and girls aged 5 and over. The program includes all aspects of trampoline sports including trampolining,

mini tramp, double mini and tumbling. Children are able to progress through a professionally structured

program designed to promote skill progression in a safe, fun filled environment.

*Tricking (New in 2015) – For boys only aged 8yrs & over

Tricking (short for “martial arts tricking”) is the informal name of a relatively new alternative sport

movement, combining martial arts, gymnastics, and other activities to create an “aesthetic blend of flips,

kicks, and twists.” Tricking incorporates a variety of moves from different arts such as flips from

gymnastics, 540 kick from Taekwondo, butterfly twist from Wushu and double leg from Capoeira. Tricking

is recognizable by its flashy kicks, complex flips and twists, and its highly stylized movements which

separate it from other arts. An individual who practises tricking is typically referred to as a “trickster” or

“tricker”.

General Rules and Conditions Our number 1 rule is that students come to class ready to learn & have fun. Be enthusiastic & motivated to be the best you can be.

FEE RULES

1. All fee's must be paid whether attended or not, no exceptions. If your child is away, they may attend a “make-up” class

only if there is another class available. This includes if you are absent due to a competition or performance.

2. All new students must be placed on the direct debit system within 2 weeks of their first class. 3. We must have two week’s written notice if you are going to change any classes. We also require 2 weeks written notice if you

are discontinuing with classes altogether. Please fill out the required forms at any S2S office. Failure to notify us immediately

of discontinuing classes altogether, will mean you will still be charged for lessons, until the relevant form has been completed

by you at our office. Refunds cannot be given. Phone calls and emails are not accepted.

4. No cancellation or swapping of classes will be accepted during Term 4 under any circumstances. (With the exception of

students finishing their Advanced Exam Grade).

GENERAL RULES

1. All students must wear correct clothes and correct grooming to all classes. Uniform needs to be purchased within the first 6

weeks of enrolment.

2. Definitely no dangly earrings, watches, bracelets, necklaces or large rings to be worn in class as they are potentially

dangerous & distracting. Students are not allowed to wear any loose clothes such as t-shirts, jumpers or jackets as it makes it

difficult for teachers to correct postures.

conscientious implementation of these aims and goals will be clearly stated.

2. Studio principals will make sure that the school and its staff are capable of providing any services claimed.

3. Studio principals will employ teaching staff with the experience, knowledge and/or qualifications required for the range of levels and

techniques being taught. Student teachers will be trained and supervised to ensure the school’s teaching standards are maintained.

4. Studio principals will provide effective assessment procedures and will ensure that students and parents receive, or have access to,

advice when necessary.

5. Studio principals will conform to sound business practice and provide an efficient fee system.

6. Studio principals and individual teachers will ensure that class sizes are suitable to the levels and techniques being taught.

7. Studio principals and individual teachers will ensure that facilities provided:

o conform with minimum safety and space requirements

o have suitable flooring, with a safe surface designed and constructed to minimise risk of injury.

8. Individual teachers will use effective and flexible teaching skills to create a productive learning environment. Individual teachers will:

o strive to communicate a love of Performing arts and Cheerleading.

S2S Parents Code of Conduct If children are interested in dance and sports, encourage them. However, if children are not willing, encourage them, do not force

them.

Encourage students to see live professional performances & events as often as possible.

Encourage students to practice at home. Always be willing to watch them or help them if they ask.

Focus upon the child's efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the examination, competition or audition. This

assists children in setting realistic goals related to their ability by reducing the emphasis on winning.

Teach children that an honest effort is as important as a victory, so that the results of each examination, performance, competition

or audition are accepted without undue disappointment.

Encourage children to always participate according to the rules.

Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake, not being placed at a competition or not passing an examination.

Remember, children are involved in dance and sports for their enjoyment, not yours.

Remember, children learn best from example. Applaud good performances by all of the performers, not just your child or your

team.

Always show respect to your child’s coaches and club.

If you disagree with an examiner, adjudicator or critic, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question the

official's judgment in public.

Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from dance and sporting activities.

If you have any issues in regards to your child’s training, seek a meeting, phone call or email with the coach without your child

present.

When posting photos or comments on social media of S2S students, families or at S2S function, please make sure they are tasteful

and are representing S2S in a favourable light.

Do not approach a student of Steps 2 Stardom to lecture or “tell them off”. If there is a problem, let a staff member or their parent

know.

There can be no use of mobile phones or cameras in any bathroom or changeroom.

In the area of children’s dance and sports, where the students are often high achievers, perceived pressure to please parenting

figures can add to the stress, both positive and negative, of daily living and growing. The above suggestion for a code of

behaviour for parents is intended to support them in their efforts to reassure their children that dance and sports is for the child's

own enjoyment and that they are loved for themselves rather than for their achievements.

At Steps 2 Stardom, we reserve the right to ask Parents & their children who continue to break the above code of conduct to leave

Steps 2 Stardom.

is Monday 1st until Saturday 6th June.

buying costumes which would generally cost $70—$100 each. Each costume also has a bond of $10 (maximum of $50 if you are

in more than 5 routines) which is refunded when the costumes are returned to us.

SINGING RECITAL – This entertaining night involves our Singers, Musical Theatre and Mini Stage Star students and is

held on Saturday 12th September
