BELIEVINGNew birth, new life, good news! These

themes run throughout today’s scripture readings. The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles describes the joyful early days of the newly born church, when members devoted themselves to instruction, the communal life, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. The passage from Peter’s first letter echoes that joy, and assures those who now believe though they never saw Jesus that their faith will lead to their salvation.

But amid all the joy, the Gospel reading calls us to sober reality. Not everyone can believe so easily. Even an apostle can doubt this astonishing news of the Resurrection. Across the centuries, Jesus reaches forward to touch us today: “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

FOOD DRIVEPope Francis has called for a Church attentive to the needs of the poor. Next week is our monthly parish food drive; please continue to donate. The past month, Outreach Center teams of parishioners from our parish and Santa Rosa volunteered for the Home Visit Mission, to give witness to the call "to love thy neighbor" to 30 needy families in the area by sharing our Christian faith, inquiring into their real needs and providing a box of food. This Mission needs your help to continue helping our neighbors. We need your assistance through donating food and/or visiting with the families. CARDINAL McINTYRE FUND FOR CHARITY

Next Sunday, May 4th is our Parish Collection for the Cardinal McIntyre Fund for Charity. Since 1951, this special Fund helps those in crisis situations throughout the Archdiocesis. You are their hope! Your gift provides a one-time emergency help such as: food, utilities, transportation, medical, housing, or funeral expenses. Envelopes for this collection are in the pews, take one and bring it back next weekend. Thank you for your help!

FELICES LOS QUE CREEN¡Nuevo renacer, nueva vida, buenas

noticias! Estos temas relucen en las lecturas bíblicas de hoy. La primera lectura de los Hechos de los Apóstoles describe los primeros días de júbilo de la Iglesia recién nacida cuando los miembros se dedicaban a la enseñanza, la vida en común, la fracción del pan y las oraciones. El pasaje de la primera carta de Pedro refleja esa alegría de la nueva vida y asegura a los nuevos creyentes que no conocieron a Jesús, que su fe los llevará a la salvación.

Pero entre esa alegría, la lectura del Evangelio nos hace volver a la realidad. No todos pueden creer tan fácilmente. Hasta un apóstol puede dudar de estas noticias extraordinarias de la Resurrección. Durante dos milenios Jesús nos busca y nos toca al decirnos: “Felices los que creen sin haber visto”.

EL FONDO DEL CARDENAL McINTYRE PARA LA CARIDAD

¡El próximo domingo 4 de mayo, es nuestra Colecta Dominical para el Fondo Cardenal McIntyre para la Caridad! Desde 1951, este Fondo ayuda a las personas que están atravesando situaciones muy difíciles en toda la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles. ¡Usted es su esperanza! Su contribución provee ayuda de emergencia para comida, pagos de alquiler, utilidades y transporte, gastos médicos y asistencia en funerales. Los sobres para esta colecta están en las bancas, llévese uno y regréselo el próximo fin de semana. ¡Gracias por su ayuda!

COLECCIÓN DE COMIDAEl Papa Francisco ha llamado a la Iglesia a estar atentos a las necesidades de los pobres. El próximo fin de semana será nuestra colecta mensual de comida. Les pedimos que por favor continúe donando los artículos necesitados. El mes pasado nuestro equipo que visita a los pobres, fueron testigos de la llamada "ama a tu prójimo" al visitar 30 familias necesitadas en nuestra área. Compartimos con ellos nuestra fe, les preguntamos de sus necesidades y les regalamos una caja de comida. Esta Misión necesita su ayuda para continuar ayudando al prójimo. A child, who suddenly becomes withdrawn, clingy, or reluctant to be with their caregiver, may be experiencing abuse. Talk with your children and encourage them to be open about their feelings.
