Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. University at Albany. Russell Sage. Happy Summer NYCKI! I hope that everyone’s summer has been great so far and that you’re using this time to do what you enjoy while being as efficient as possible. What does being efficient mean? That definition is up to you to create. To me it simply means to do as much of everything as possible. This summer I will be traveling to Vancouver, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Rochester, and making multiple trips to New Jersey. I will also be working at a summer camp twice a week and an internship at a Speech Therapy clinic for two days a week. On top of this I hope to do as much service as possible and to continue to communicate with as many members of the district as possible. I would like to emphasize my multiple trips to New Jersey. For the past few years many NYCKI members as well as myself have been talking to members of NJCKI. This past year a few clubs in my area stepped it up and built up our NJCKI-NYCKI relationship. While we all know that CKI extends beyond NY, this bond has allowed my club members to further grasp this concept. I’m so happy to see that we have such an equal relationship where they come to our events (like the AIDS walk) and we go to their events (World’s Largest Sandcastle Build). While I know that NJ may be a tad too far for everyone to travel to, I would like everyone to consider finding a club, division, district that is 1-3 hours away and making a visit. It’s always cool to see what other clubs are up to and let’s not forget the bonding you’ll get in the car ride to these places! Utilize the summer to travel as much as you can locally!
