STONY PLAIN CENTRAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain is looking for sup-
port from our community schools to help make the
"Kinsmen Christmas Hampers" a success. 2010
will be the 32nd year that the Hamper Program
has helped those that are less fortunate in Stony Plain and Parkland
County. Last year 230 families (over 1050 people) were supplied with
food for two weeks (including the turkey for Christmas dinner), toys for
the children and gift cards for much needed necessities. Stony Plain
Central will be collecting food bank items in our classrooms from De-
cember 1-12. If you can contribute, please send food bank items/toys
or gift cards to your child's teacher during this time. The Kinsmen Club
of Stony Plain will be picking up these items on December 13 to distrib-
ute to families in need. Thank you for your support!

Caring for Our Community and Our Environment
REPORT CARDS!!!!!
Report cards will be sent
home with students on
December 10…..watch for
them!!!!!
Last spring, a group of Grade Five students planted some carrot seeds in the community gardens, located between the PERC building and the Multicultural Centre. Three garden plots were donated to the school through the Stony Plain Community Gardens project, from the 40 raised beds [4‟ by 8‟ plots] that were built in cooperation with the Town of Stony Plain. The nutrient-rich compost in the garden plots came from the Town‟s „green‟ organicart program. The carrot beds were lovingly cared for throughout the summer months by one of our Stony Plain Central students and his family.
On October 27th, our Grade 4/5 class harvested and cleaned the car-rots over a period of two days. About 30 kilograms of fresh garden carrots were delivered to the local food bank, in Spruce Grove, on No-vember 1, 2010. This project is just one of the many ways that Stony Plain Central students and staff demonstrate their commitment to making a differ-ence in our world. Developing inex-pensive, sustainable projects within our community encourages students to practice skills in leadership and re-sponsible citizenship.
We would like to thank all of the com-munity groups, who worked together to make this project so successful.

On the front steps of East High, it's the first day after winter break. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. New friends, Gabrielle and Troy, eventually to Sharpy‟s surprise, sign up for auditions for the school mu-sical and give her and her twin Ryan, a little competition. Troy is torn between loyalty to his basket-ball team and Gabrielle, while she is just trying to fit in and hide that she is very intelligent. Both their friends Chad and Taylor have different motives for having the pair not audition, one for basket-ball and the other for the Science Decathlon. When they are called back for a second audition, Sharpy is furious. She convinces the Jocks and Brainiacs to devise a plan to trick Troy and Gabriella into forgetting about the musical and committing to their respective competitions. Thinking each one has betrayed the other, Gabriella and Troy are crushed. Against Ryan's advice, Sharpay convinces Ms. Darbus, the drama teacher, to move the callbacks to conflict with the science decathlon and championship game. While the Brainiacs and Jocks compete, Sharpay and Ryan pull off a polished callback performance. Troy and Gabriella rush to the theater, but are too late for their callback. When the East High students arrive to rally behind them, Ms. Darbus relents, and they sing their way into the lead roles. Back at the gym, the Wildcats win the game and the whole school comes together as winners.
