This year we are designed for growth, this the year we have set one
overall goal which is to achieve growth in all the divisions at Stowelink.
Now, I know most of you have an idea of what Stowelink is but maybe
you don’t have the whole picture, part of what we have prepared for
you in this quarter’s report is a brief by relevant easy to understand
description of what Stowelink is in its entirety . Knowing that Stowelink
has not yet become a beneficiary of funding since its inception in 2016,
the organization has embraced the concept of sustainability which is
strongly embedded in the organizations design and belief. It’s because
of this reason that we still come to you the reader requesting for
collaborations and in kind support in terms of finance, infrastructure and
also material resource. At Stowelink we have developed a culture of
disruptive thinking and collaboration and we wish to continuously learn
from all of your contributions, insights ad experiences that you could
offer us .
We strive for greatness, we push towards it and we know the only way
we will get there is through collaborations, innovations and disruptive
thinking and more than that acting and that’s why this year we are
opening our doors wider to collaborations, volunteerism and cross
boarder learning and collaborations. At the start of 2019 we set
ourselves on a very ambitious journey of reaching 10,000 people with
free health care and we know we can do it alone but together we
could beat this goal by far .as you will see in this quarters report is that
we have made tremendous strides in our efforts to achieve this goal
also this quarter as you will read is that we have had global recognition
twice and seemingly made history as being some of the youngest
researchers contributing to the various aspects of health care through
our research work which led us to presenting at the AHAIC conference
and ASBC conference both which were global scientific conferences
attracting global audiences and key players in the health field.
It would be unfair on my end as the founder and CEO of Stowelink if I
do not thank all of you- our constant supporters, followers and
collaborators. Without you we could not have proceded this far and
with precision as we are doing right now. Specifically this quarter we
want to recognize and deeply appreciate three individuals whose
support for the course really stood out this quarter: Dr Githinji Gitahi-
Global CEO of Amref Health Africa who has become a role model and
an inspiration to our team and Mr Siyad, a public health Officer from
Garissa county whose efforts to support Stowelink financially have been
truly felt this quarter and Ms.Harriet Shikanda from impact Africa for her
big role at the ASBC Conference. From us to these three outstanding
individuals and to all of us together we would like to say thank you so
much and lets continue in the words of our mantra and vision
TRANSFORM AND EMPOWER LIVES, because if not us WHO?

ABOUT STOWELINK
SO WHAT IS STOWELINK?
Stowelink is a youth led social enterprise registered with the government of Kenya in 2019
as a company. We are youth driven and focused on attaining one mission only and that
is transforming and empowering lives. We do this actively trough focusing on health and
disruptive entrepreneurship. We have 3 main divisions and this include the health division,
the disruptive entrepreneurship division and the techHub Division. Stowelink focuses
majorly on reaching the young people with various messages on health and wellbeing.
HEALTH DIVISION
Our main focus is to provide health and wellbeing with the specific interest in non-
communicable diseases. We also have an interest in sexual reproductive health
and these two form our major focus in the health division. Under non
communicable diseases we focus majorly on preventive primary health care
providing services and undertaking projects aimed at addressing this. We have
projects to address the 4 major risk factors to non-communicable diseases which
include tobacco use, alcohol use, poor diets and physical inactivity. We also go a
step forward to provide primary prevention for non-communicable diseases which
include screening services where we currently do screening for cardiovascular
diseases which are the leading killer non communicable diseases through blood
pressure screening, blood sugar screening, and with time we hope to start
screening for cancers and other NCDS. We also conduct relevant easy to
understand trainings on the preventive approaches for all non-communicable
diseases. Under sexual and reproductive health we also conduct primary health
care projects and health education with our major target being the young people.
DISRUPTIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP DIVISION
Under the Disruptive entrepreneurship division, we focus on raising a generation of youth who are
job creators and not job seekers.as a result we established the Kreative Hub clubs in the
universities to help us reach the young people in universities who are considered the cream of
the society and transform them into not only intellectuals but also individuals with hands on skills
who can create jobs for themselves and the communities around them. The Kreative hub clubs
have been established in Kenyatta University and Jommo Kenyatta University of Agriculture And
Technology with small groups in Moi University and Egerton university. The club trains its members
on 3 main pillars: health, disruptive entrepreneurship and soft skills development with major focus
on leadership and personal development foe all the members.

TECHHUB DIVISION.
In this division we focus majorly on using technology as a tool to spearhead innovation
under heath care and entrepreneurship. As a result, we have been able to design
award winning mobile app on health care with focus on cardiovascular health called
MyHeart ke which we are now upgrading to mCure App. Besides creating apps, we
also develop websites, do social media marketing and manage social media sites.

INTRODUCTION
The drug free youth is a Stowelink project which aims at creating awareness on drugs and

people. The project aims at sensitizing on the effects of drug abuse and linking them to
non-communicable diseases since tobacco and alcohol abuse are the leading risk factors
for non-communicable diseases. The project uses various approaches to ensure the
message is out and these include public education, focus group discussions and the use
of art to talk about drug and substance abuse linking them to non-communicable.

This new segment in our reports will be featuring youth NCD
survivors and champions willing to share their stories with the
world. We intend to create a positive image and to insist on the
fact that that communicable diseases is here with us as the
youth. And as a result, we should begin to change our
perspective on non-communicable diseases in Africa.

This quarter Stowelink celebrates Tevin Omondi who is our
NCD champion of the quarter. Tevin lives with asthma which
is a common pulmonary NCD affecting the lungs and the
breathing system. Besides being a high fashion commercial
model, Tevin also has been able to start up a youth
enterprise the Ngunjiri foundation which focuses on
rehabilitation of street kids proving that despite being a
youth suffering from an NCD he could still actively live
beyond the NCD and positively and immensely impact the
society. Tevin is also currently working with Stowelink on our
various projects and his story will be one of the several stories
which will be featured on the mCure app once its released.
ART AND ENTERPRENUERSHIP
DIVISION
ABOUT
The Stowelink Art And Entrepreneurship Division now called the Kreative Hub is the
future of disruptive entrepreneurship, innovation, health and the youth. It’s the
platform raising a generation of youth who are health conscious, a generation of
youth who have undergone self-development trainings and a generation of youth
who are capable of becoming self-employed and become job creators in the
society. It’s one of Stowelink’s biggest milestones in cementing youth engagement
in health while also rising a generation of leaders and self-employers and job
creators in the society. The Kreative Hub has 3 main divisions: 1. Kreative youth and
health 2. Kreative soft skills and personal development 3. Kreative networking and
personal development. The Kreative Hub is currently in 3 universities across the
country. currently we are in Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University Of
Agriculture And Technology In Nairobi University And In Moi University though the
latter 2 are still catching up. The Kreative Hub intends to pass down soft skills training
which are not taught in universities but which are beneficial and necessary to
become relevant in the job market and also to develop a generation of university
graduates who have practical skills and can be able to start up enterprises employ
themselves and also employ the community around them. So far we have trained
our second cohort in Kenyatta university which has 96 registered members. More
about the Kreative Hub can be found at kreativehub.wordpress.com

KREATIVE HUB UPDATES.
KREATIVE HUB CLUBS COHORT 2
In The Kreative Hub clubs we took in the second cohort from
January to March where we trained them on leadership
entrepreneurship and health. We majorly focused on leadership
and personal development with this cohort. We trained 49
members in this cohort and this was an amazing experience with
this team. During this period we had a series of active projects in
which the members of the Kreative Hub had massive input on
including ,project fit in partnership with Jamii Spots, team building
activities at the arboretum, debate on leadership and disruption of
the norm and eventually the Kreative Hub festival.
KREATIVE HUB FEST.
The Kreative Hub festival is the rebrand of the Kreative Hub dinner where this
time round, we focused more on the youths in the training showcasing their
various contributions and lessons learnt from the Kreative Hub and how we
could use those to change the communities around us. The theme for this
year’s festival was, “African stories African Innovations shared the African
way.” The theme surrounded how we could influence other sectors of health
and entrepreneurship through art. The guest speaker for the day was the
founder Stowelink and the guest artist was Rymo LION. We had several
performing artists, poets, musicians, and innovators who, in one way or the
other, had benefited from Stowelink activities and projects. We also had
members showcasing their various goods and services that they have made
courtesy of the Kreative hub cohort one training. We saw artists and hand
craft designers who were members of the Kreative Hub cohort one come to
showcase businesses they had developed courtesy of the Kreative Hub.
NOMINATIONS TO KUSA AWARDS
Kreative Hub, being just 1-year-old now in Kenyatta
university, was nominated by the university among 4
other clubs for the Kenyatta university student
association (KUSA) awards. This came as a big honor
and showed that the university had noticed the
effects of the Kreative Hub clubs in the university.

ART4CHARITY FUNDRAISER EVENT 21ST FEB 2019
Stowelink in collaboration with the Kreative hub and the art for charity
poets held an art for charity fundraising event where we used poetry as a
means to raise funds for the less fortunate. The event which happened
right at Kenyatta university was largely attended by poets, and passionate
youth on a trajectory to change the world. The event was a way to raise
funds to visit Ebenezer children’s home in Githurai which is currently our
focus children’s home. Some of the big actors that joined us in making the
fundraiser a success included Joe Mshairi, Poetic Pen, Poetic Dose
amongst a myriad of other passionate poets. The event was predominantly
coordinated by Elvina Navalayo who ensured together with her team, they
made the event a success.

PLANS FOR THE 2ND QUARTER
In the second quarter of 2019 we intend to implement and continue
with several projects including
Info4food project
In this project we intent to reach the farmers and local residents of
Githurai Nairobi Kenya with relevant information on nutrition and how
embracing alternative foods and food drying could go a long way in
improving nutrition thus beating NCDS and food insecurity
THE DRUG FREE YOUTH PROJECT.
We intend to finish up on the second phase of the drug free youth
project which will involve a lot of research work while also reaching
out to individuals in institutions of higher learning and secondary
schools and teaching them on drug abuse its relation to NCDS and
practical ways to keep off drugs as youths. Its time health and NCDS
in particular embrace a multi sectoral approach because even
NCDS themselves are multisectoral in effect.
STOWELINK MEETS THEIR ROLE MODELS
Stowelink members were privileged to briefly meet and talk to
their role models at the ASBC CONFERENCE ANT AT THE AHAIC
CONFERENCE IN KIGALI. Our biggest role models as an
organization are Dr Githinji Gitahi the global CEO of Amref
health Africa whom we met and briefly talked to at the ASBC
Conference and at the AHAIC Conference in Kigali. The
strongest attributes of Dr. Gitahi which matter to us as an
organization is the great passion, he has to address things from
the community level upwards and the total commitment to
Universal Health Care which he says cannot be achieved
without the youth like us.
We also met Prof Khama Rogo and even invited him to be our
guest speaker in the Public health dinner which we organized
at Kenyatta University. Prof Khama Rogo is the world bank Lead
Health Sector Specialist with a lot if wisdom and insights in the
health field. His Ted Talk on Walking With The Prados is one of
the most insightful talks on health which spurred us to continue
with the work we are already doing. His key attributes which we
learn from as an organization is his passion for innovation, his
straight forward nature on hitting the critical points on health
care on the head and his wisdom around health care and
disruptive innovation.

MYHEART KE X MAY MEASUREMENT MONTH.
Stowelink aims at testing 5,000 individuals during the May
Measurement Month as part of the MyHeart Ke project. We also
intent on organizing the Pima Pressure annual event in Nairobi in
commemoration of May Measurement Month. Let’s all know our
numbers, let’s get tested for blood pressure during the May
Measurement Month.
PUBLISHING RESEARCH WORK.
Stowelink is also actively now working round the clock to publish a series
of papers arising from our 3-year long projects at the African Health
Agenda International Journal and as a result also actively contribute to
the scientific field of research and innovation. We believe through our
research on disruptive approaches and initiatives we are able to inspire a
new age of scientific and research work in African young people
focused on innovation and disruption.
