Student Focused CSA is committed to helping students succeed and maximize their potential by offering personalized academic support, organization and time management assistance, regular one-on-one meetings to monitor progress, assistive technology, and a CSA student tutoring facility. The tutoring facility includes software such as Read & Write and Ease of Access, as well as video magnification and large keyboards. Training can be provided to students who need help with this technology. The CSA staff can also help students acquire digital books when e-books are not available.
Confidentiality Confidentiality is important to the Center for Student Accessibility. CSA handles information confidentially, as mandated by HIPAA and FERPA — laws which make medical and student information confidential.
Center for Student Accessibility About the CSA Every student has the right to equal access to EKU’s buildings, programs, and activities. The Center for Student Accessibility (CSA) is here to help! CSA provides individualized accommodations and modifications, advocacy, academic guidance, collaborative programming, and outreach for students who require assistance.
ServicesThe following services can be provided by the CSA, depending on individual needs and documentation:
• Test accommodations• Note-taking software• Priority seating• Advocacy information • Auxiliary aids• Assistive technology and training• Digital course material • CSA Tutoring Lab • Housing accommodations• Classroom accommodations • Early registration
Transition From High School Students are responsible for contacting the Center for Student Accessibility. Students with disabilities are asked to register with the CSA and provide the appropriate documentation to receive accommodations.
How to RegisterApplications to register with the office can be found online at accessibility.eku.edu as well as at the CSA office. Applications will be reviewed by a coordinator and the student will be contacted for a follow-up meeting.
Students we serveAccommodations are provided for individuals with long- or short-term, documented disabilities, which include the following and others:
• Learning Disabilities • ADD• ADHD• Autism spectrum disorder • Acquired brain injuries • Visual impairments • Mobility/orthopedic impairments • Chronic or severe illnesses • Mental health conditions • Partial or complete hearing loss
Test Accommodations These include a variety of services such as:
• Quiet testing areas • Assistive technology
• Additional test-taking time • Accessible formats (upon request) • Read&Write software • Noise-cancelling headphones • Scribing
FacilitiesThe CSA will work to accommodate any barriers that hinder access to campus facilities. To bring a barrier to the office’s attention, complete the Barrier Report on the CSA website
Additionally, public videophones are located at the following locations for use by individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing.
