Topic Assignment Components

PowerPoint Visual 3.4

Key Points

When a event is staffed there are components that impact an officer receiving a position.

Departmental seniority is the first component. Arlington Police Department holds seniority over all other outside agencies.

The second component is the INTENT Deadline. Officers who submit their intent by the posted dead‐line will have priority over those that showed intent after the posted deadline.

The third component is Date of Hire, for APD personnel only. Personnel will be assigned based upon their Date of Hire.

An individuals preference will then be taken into consideration. If a position is not available in the indi‐viduals preference they will be assigned to the next available position, regardless of preference.

Capability is the final component. This component is based upon specialized training and qualifica‐tions. For example, individuals that are bike certified or motor officers.

Finally, outside agencies will be selected to work by the date and time they showed INTENT.

Topic Roster Assignment

PowerPoint Visual 3.5

Key Points

Roster assignments are always subject to change, even at the very last minute. When changes are made you will be forwarded a new roster assignment. It is important that officers check the new assignment for changes in position, briefing time or important notes.   As event planning progresses there may be a need to reduce staffing requirements. If this occurs officers will be notified in a timely manner of the situation.   Time requirements for a position may also be reduced. Officers will receive a four hour minimum pay for working their assignment.   If you have a Roster Assignment and are unable to work you should notify the Arlington PD Special Events Unit immediately.

You should NOT find your own replacement for the event.
