WELCOME BACK BARBEQUESPRING 2017

The Student Recreational Activities Center (SRAC) kick started the Spring 2017 semester with a warm welcoming barbeque.

There was live music performed by the band “Freefall” and “Dj Shadow” as well as activities to welcome new and returning students to ACK’s campus. “It is always great to meet our new students and get them engaged with our existing community during different campus activities”- Basel Dana, Student Recreational Activities Manager.

One of the activities included a Kajukenbo demonstration where a Kajukenbo Master demonstrated self-defense skills with his students. Connect Cafe by Nestle was also available. It is a pop-up style cafe where students get to connect as well as enjoy free cups of coffee.

It was a thrilling way to start the new semester and we wish all our students the best of luck!

Understanding

The Law of Attraction by Noura Al-Herais

Ever had one of those days, weeks or even months where everything you do feels arduous and unrewarding? Have you ever felt so feeble and miserable because nothing you do seems to be enough and somehow, just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does! This is not a conspiracy and it is not the whole world turning against you. This is simply the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction affects people regardless of their religion, ethnicity and gender. It is used by everyone, whether they believe in it or not. But, in order to effectively benefit from the law, we must be able to comprehend it first.

So, what is the Law of Attraction? The Law of Attraction is the strongest law in the universe. This

law attracts circumstances, people and situations that are similar to the energy you put off through your thoughts and imagination. In brief, negative thoughts attract negative happenings and vice versa.

Evidence:

Scientists and experts from a wide range of fields have always known about some of the concepts of the law of attraction, for instance Scientists working at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at the Institute of Neurology in London have discovered that people who visualise a better future are more likely to be able to bring that future into existence.

They wrote; “The ability to construct a hypothetical scenario in one’s imagination prior to it actually occurring

may afford greater accuracy in predicting its eventual outcome.”

Another example of scientific proof for the Law of Attraction was published in the Yonsei Medical Journal in 2007. Korean researcher, Ji Young Jung, and his staff found that there was a strong connection between positive thinking and overall life satisfaction in the population, which echoes the sentiments of scholars who suggest positive thinking exercises as a way to boost manifestation potential.

One of the researches wrote “these findings offer promise of positive thinking as an approach for psychological interventions designed to promote life satisfaction.”

17Change your Mind

1. Gratitude:

Get a pen and a piece of paper and write ten things you’re grateful for. Doing so every day will help encourage optimistic thoughts and aid you by encouraging a positive outlook. Also, do yourself a favor, avoid being unnecessarily aggressive and isolated for a few days and you’ll see how your attitude and way of thinking affects your life. “And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor] - Al Quran (14:7)

2. Know what you want:

Are you getting everything you feel like you deserve? If not, then, you’re probably not asking for it. Write down everything you want from life in every area, like a shopping list, it is essential for you to know precisely what you want because when you’re bemused you’ll be sending mixed signals to the universe and you won’t end up happy.

3. Visualize:

Visualizing is about triggering your emotions as if you already have everything you’ve ever wanted, the car, the money, the education and basically everything you desire, what I like to do is craft a vision board where I stick pictures of my goals and look at it every day. I used to do this before I even knew about the law of attraction, at that time I just needed that motivational hype to get me up every morning, to remind me of my goals and give me a push. But this board is so much stronger than you think. Not only will it inspire you, it manifests your goals and materializes the objects.

“The ability to construct a hypothetical situation in one’s imagination prior to it actually occurring may afford greater accuracy in predicting its eventual outcome.” -Demis Hassabis and Eleanor A. Maguire. Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging

Choice Theory course19th of January

School of Business: Choice Theory course

As part of ACK’s continuing efforts of adding to students’ skills through extracurricular activities, 11 ACK business students have proudly completed the Basic Choice Theory course. All students received their certificates from William Glasser Institute after completing the 27 hour course and have moved on to Basic Practicum in order to go on to Advanced level.

Dr. Glasser, the founder of William Glasser Institute in 1967, developed Choice Theory which explains all human behavior. “Learning Choice Theory helps people understand themselves and better manage the events and people in their lives over which they have no control. Choice Theory is the foundation for Lead Management.”
