INTRODUCTION About Student READY • The Fifth Deans committee has given detailed curriculum of

student READY programme for all the disciplines in agriculture and allied sciences.

• The course curriculum have been restructured to develop much needed skills and entrepreneurial mind-set among the graduates to take up self-employment, contribute to enhanced rural livelihood and food security, sustainability of agriculture and be propeller for agricultural transformation.

INTRODUCTION

The following components are proposed for carrying out one year Student READY programme in all the Under graduate (UG) disciplines: 1. Experiential Learning on Business model / Hands on

Training. 2. Experiential Learning on Skill Development. 3. Rural Agricultural Works Experience (RAWE). 4. Internship / In-Plant Training / Industrial attachment. 5. Students Projects.

The Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE)

• The Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) helps the students primarily to understand the rural situations, status of agricultural technologies adopted by farmers, prioritize the farmer’s problems and to develop skills and attitude of working with farm families for overall development in rural area.

• The timings for RAWE flexible for specific regions to coincide with the main cropping season.

Objectives

• To provide opportunity to the students to understand the

rural situation in relation to agriculture and allied activities.

• To make the students familiar with socio-economic

conditions of the farmers and their problems.

• To impart diagnostic and remedial knowledge to the students

relevant to real field situations through practical training.

The Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE)

• To develop effective communication skills of students with

farmers using latest extension methodologies in transfer of

technology.

• To develop confidence and competence among students to

solve complex agricultural problems.

• To acquaint students with on-going extension and rural

development programmes.

Attachment to KVKs/Research stations and other units

• Opportunity to work in KVKs, Research Stations

• institutional vision, mandates, objectives, activities, staffing

pattern, plan of work, funding, challenges and constraints etc.

• Practical exposures to the experimental & demonstrational

farms/units & outreach activities • opportunity in organising / laying out of mandated activities i.e. Capacity

building, FLDs, OFTs, Diagnostic Visits, Farm Trials, Experiments, etc.

• Hands on experience in joining hands in organising extension

outreach programmes & liaising with development departments.

General Instructions during Attachment to KVKs

• Students should stay in the KVK during the placement

• Students should not leave the camp without the permission of the

Teacher in-charge even during holidays.

• During the stay, the students should involve themselves in

observation, discussions and associate in organising method

demonstrations, campaign, field visits, etc., as decided by the KVK /

ARS.

• Students should strictly follow the Government’s Standard Operating

Procedures for COVID-19 pandemic management.

General Instructions during Attachment to KVKs/Research stations and other units

• There will be online attendance and zoom monitoring/

review sessions.

• Each student should have observation cum work diary.

• Students should behave in an exemplary manner during their

ARS/KVK placements as worthy representatives of UASB.

• Students are forbidden from swimming during the placement

period.

General Instructions during Attachment to KVKs/Research stations and other units

• Students should report immediately your illness if any to the

teacher in-charge.

• Students should maintain cleanliness and ideal atmosphere

in your places of stay and surroundings.

• Students should not give room for any untoward incidents.

• An undertaking in this regard is mandatory should be given

today.

Plan for KVK/ARS/ Unit Placement

• 4 groups of boys and 4 groups of girls prepared for KVK/ARS

placement for two weeks.

• First week, boys will undergo for KVK placements in Mandya,

Bangalore Rural, Ramanagara and Tumkur and girls will undergo for

Research Units placements in Bangalore.

• Second week placement would be changed vice-versa for boys & girls.

• Buses are arranged for dropping and picking up of students

Agro-Industrial Attachments

• To provide an opportunity to the students to get acquainted with the

day to day activities of the Agro Industries related to agriculture.

• 16 Departments are identifying significant Agro Industries related to

the subject/discipline.

• Based on students’ options, 12-15 students would be allotted / dept.

• Students are deputed to undergo placement training for three weeks.

Agro-Industrial Attachments

• Students are exposed to agro industrial planning, production,

services, promotion, marketing, budgeting, monitoring,

review, technical and financial reporting of commercial

ventures in agriculture.

• The AIA course teachers would orient, monitor, assign

practical exercises / presentations /group discussions and

finally conduct examination and evaluate their performance.
