• To restore the input patch, recall the main “Studio 3 default” scene memory.

• To edit the input patch (do not save over the default!) navigate to the “In Patch” edit window by pressing the “Patch” button.

• The inputs in these diagrams are the physical inputs to the console. AD stands for analog-to-digital, there is one AD for every channel (16 mic or line). ADAT is the 8-channel digital input, this is connected to the DIGI 003. S/PDIF is the 2-channel digital input, which is connected to the CD player. Now it gets tricky because, as you can see below, you can change the channel inputs in software eg. channel 1 (so fader 1) could be changed to control input from ADAT 6. Remember that the physical inputs don’t change, it is just where they are represented on the console. Easy, right?

• To restore the output patch, recall the main “Studio 3 default” scene memory.

• To edit the output patch (do not save over the default!) navigate to the “Out Patch” edit window by pressing the “Patch” button.

• The outputs in these diagrams are the physical outputs from the console. As with the input patch, ADAT is the 8-channel digital format, again it is connected to the DIGI 003. Omni refers to the four analog outputs (connected to the patchbay). Again these can be changed in software. So, if you changed Omni 1 from Aux 1 to Buss 1, anything you routed to that buss would show up as an analog signal on the patchbay eg. send to Dep-5, Buchla, Voyager, et.

• The 01V96 console is an 8-buss console, every channel can send to one or all of the busses. The busses are used to route signals to differ-ent places in the studio, primarily our recording device, which is Pro-Tools.

• “S” and “D” stand for stereo and direct. A channel routed to stereo will come out of the monitors (as long as you’ve turned them up!). The direct option isn’t utilized in our studio.

• Note! Panning is pre-buss. To capture any panning you do on the console, you must use an odd/even pair of busses and record to a stereo track in Pro-Tools. Capiche?

• The heart of the MIDI set-up in Studio 3 is the Midisport 8x8 multi-port interface. The Oxygen 8 is the “master” input controller (port 8) for the studio and you’ll see it is connected in two ways: USB and 5-pin DIN (standard MIDI interconnect). • There are two modes in which to operate MIDI in the studio: “Thru” and “USB” (selectable on the front panel of the Midisport).• “Thru” mode = 1 in, 8 out. Use this when you want the Oxygen to control all MIDI devices.• “USB” mode = MIDI routing is controlled by the host application.
