Rapid urbanization has led to deciency of safe and pure water across the globe. The lack of direct access to safe and pure drinking water is leading to millions of deaths every year. In addition, there is outcry for safe drinking water due to outstripping of clean water supply, further continuation of demand in safe and pure water may lead to future global economic and humanitarian crisis.

TThus, there is urge for development of new sustainable technologies to produce adequate quantity of safe and pure water amongst the governments, international organizations and research community.

Greetings and best wishes from NITC. On behalf of organizing committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to the “Sustainable Technologies in Water Treatment and Desalination (STWTD – 2020)” to be held at the Department of Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala, India on 18-19th December 2020. The theme of the conference is various advances in sustainable techniques developed in the eld of water treatment and desalindesalination.

The STWTD – 2020 is a rst online conference on sustainable technologies on water purication and attracts internationally renowned scientists, engineers and designers in the eld of water research and development. The goal of the STWTD – 2020 is to provide a discussion forum to the various researchers, engineers and scientist across the world for dissemination and discussion of cutting-edge research in water treatment & desalination. The key iningredient for success of the conference is its participation of all professionals in all aspects of water treatment and desalination from all around the world at this unique Calicut city of Kerala, India.
