The Acting CEO Brand South Africa 103 Central Street Houghton Johannesburg

Dear Ms. Thulisile Manzini,

We salute and congratulate you on your appointment as Acting CEO of Brand South Africa.

It is on the backdrop of the aforementioned that we write to inform you of The DOOR of Our Return Foundation founded in New York. In South Africa The DOOR is being led by Jerry Vilakazi - Chairperson of Palama Group and former CEO of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and MD of Black Management Forum.

This year, 2019 marks 400 years since the first documented ship anchored the shores of America with about 20 people taken as slaves from Africa, another forcibly displacement case.This movement is anchored by four strategic pillars;

1. Correct - healing to address the emotional trauma suffered through slavery, as broken people cannot build.

2. Connect - build sustainable relationships, capacity building including twinning of cities and universities.

3. Commerce - establish mutually beneficial business partnerships, trade and investment.4. Culture - tourism, understand the good African culture through exchange programs and

history lectures.

We are mobilizing thousands of African Americans to go back home and connect for commerce and culture. The journey will begin in November 2019, starting in Senegal, Goree Island; Ghana; Nigeria and ending with a big culminating event in Johannesburg, South Africa 21-23 November 2019.

African Gospel Festival: 23 November at FNB / Orlando (tbc)• Madiba said ‘It is music and dancing that make me at peace with the world’. In honor of

the Madiba Legacy, we are planning a Gospel Festival which will be co- produced by A. Curtis Farrow who leads the annual McDonalds Gospel Festival in the USA. Last year, Curtis Farrow led a 15 000 voice choir. This festival is aimed to bring Unity, healing and peace to Africa including our African American brothers and sisters. In closing Madiba said “/ dream of an Africa which is at peace with itself’

• This will become an annual Global Gospel Festival, Pan African and African American Artist, Uniting as One.

• A. Curtis Farrow will be working with Ron Kunene original cast member of the Lion King based in the USA. He was also involved in the Global Citizen event including Ken Sunshine.

From: Michelle van GilderDate: Friday, October 4, 2019 at 12:46 PMTo: Mudunwazi BaloyiSubject: Diaspora Dialogues Roundtable: Thank you and next steps

Dear Mudunwazi:

Thank you so much for joining us last week at the Diaspora Dialogues: Strengthening Connections to the African Continent roundtable that The Africa Narrative co-hosted with Facebook. It meant a great deal to have you there and

were so pleased that you could contribute to such a rich and dynamic discussion.

Not surprisingly, you provided substantive insights based on Brand South Africa's

experience and precisely why we wanted you there.

As a follow-on to the meeting, we wanted to share a few items:

Recommendations: As you know, our interest in convening this meeting was to

elicit a formal set of recommendations on the role of the Diaspora in

strengthening perceptions of Africa while deepening economic, cultural, and

social ties with the region. Given how much ground there was to cover within a

relatively short time, we want to give participants the opportunity to follow up

with any suggested recommendations that they didn't have a chance to share, or

to add on to any observations made during the meeting.

If there's anything you'd like to add, please email me or suggest a time for a call.

Stay in Touch: This is only the beginning! The Africa Narrative and Facebook look

forward to connecting and invite you to keep in touch on our respective work and

efforts. Please e-mail Facebook's lead on diaspora engagement, Ms. Semhar

Araia, at [email protected] if you have any questions or are interested in their

African diaspora work.

Connections: Given the wonderful diversity within the room, we realize there

were many connections made and would like to give everyone the opportunity to

connect directly with each other. Please let us know if you would not like to

share your e-mail address with the participants who were in attendance, by

Wednesday, October 9, 2019. We will send out a full list of each roundtable

participant's name, affiliation and e-mail addresses.

It is hard to believe that it is already one year ago that you were part of the

roundtable hosted by the Africa Narrative on the sidelines of the United Nations

General Assembly! The Africa Narrative, a project of the Norman Lear Center at

USC's Annenberg School of Communications, is now following up that inaugural

event with a series of high-level and outcome-driven roundtables, with our first one hosted in partnership with Facebook on September 24th from

2-5 p.m. at the Ford Foundation in New York. We would be honored to have you

join us once again.

The off-the-record event will convene 30 influential members of the African

Diaspora and other leading voices, for a discussion that will lead to a seminal set

of recommendations on its role in strengthening perceptions of Africa while

deepening economic, cultural, and social ties with the region.

Given South Africa's position as one of the continent's most vital destinations for

US tourism and trade and investment, you can appreciate why we think it's

important to have the voice of Brand South Africa around the table. We hope

that you or Ms. Thulisile Manzini will be available to partake in what is certain to

be a rich and productive discussion.

Will you let me know if you can attend? The event's full invitation can be viewed

Thank you so much. Please let me know if I can address any additional questions.

SAID INSTITUTE SAID Pan African Library 12126 Westheimer Rd, #118 Houston, TX 415-871-7615 | [email protected] |www. saidinstitute.org

Dear Honorable Jackson Mthembu,

On behalf of the Society for Africans in Diaspora (SAiD) who have partnered Brand South Africa to co-host the networking event, we have the pleasure to extend an invitation by our organizational leadership to be our keynote speaker for Society of Africans in Diaspora (SAiD) African Exchange 2019 power network program in New York. The event which is part of the broader fellowship program for SAiD which is now on its seventh year running, will be held at the Time Hotel in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly on the evening of September 25th, 2019. African Exchange is made up of trailblazers and achievers who want to see the African continent thrive. We believe our network is an effective tool for catalyzing change in Africa. Your presence and participation will enhance our efforts to lead the change, at the time when visionary leadership is required for our beloved continent of Africa.

Each year, the SAiD African Exchange community convenes at our Annual Gathering which attracts hundreds of leaders from 30-40 countries - a large majority of whom are Young professionals, Managing Directors, entrepreneurs, leaders from government, NGOs, the arts and civil society - who believe that intergroup, decisive leadership is the most powerful lever for transforming Africa. Through our Annual Gathering, we create a space to engage in rich dialogue and action towards our mission of developing one million transformational leaders for Africa by 2050. Our attendees have opportunities to deeply reflect on the role that they can play as agents of change and progress in their respective sectors. We prefer to think of our Annual Gathering as a leadership retreat that renews and inspires our community of some of the most influential leaders on the continent.

SAiD’s African Exchange is a network of people who are passionate about developing a million leaders for Africa by 2050. Our mission is to create a convening place for all those who believe in this vision to transform Africa. The African Exchange will focus on Africa’s contributions to the global economy and represents a radically different approach to leadership and intercultural exchange. The African Exchange Fellowship seeks to further foster a better understanding of Africa in the United States and throughout the world -its history, politics, culture, problems and potential. Your envisaged participation will show commitment to leadership development, to the

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CELEBRATION OF 25 YEARS OF SOUTH AFRICAN DEMOCRACY, AND THE SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OF SOUTH AFRICAN WOMEN'S DAY IN ATLANTA

CELEBRATING THE RISE OF AN AFRICAN WOMEN WORLDWIDEAUGUST CONVENTION BRINGS DISTINGUISHED INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES TO ATLANTA

A powerful African-American activist named Fannie Lou Hamer once encouraged her fellow freedom fighters "never to forget where we came from and always praise the bridges that carried us over." As black people around the world continue breaking down barriers on the path to prosperity, they often find creative ways to honor the legacy of those that came before them.

On Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at 6pm, Brand South Africa in partnership with the South

African Women's Alliance is hosting 25 year of South African Democracy and the sixth anniversary dinner of South African Women's Day in Atlanta. The event will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Perimeter Center; 246 Perimeter Center Pkwy NE, Atlanta, GA 30346.

One of the most crucial moments in the African woman's global struggle for dignity took place on August 9, 1956, when over 20,000 South African women hit the streets and marched together in an extraordinary protest against discrimination. The 1956 march by thousands of fearless women is the testament to the role of women in bringing about democracy in South Africa.

This seminal moment in South Africa's history has been celebrated since 1995 as Women's Day and is the focal point of Women's Month celebrations. During Women's Month our nation recognizes the important role of political activism by women during the struggle for liberation against colonization and apartheid in South Africa

It is also an opportunity to reflect on the gains South Africans have made since 1994. Over the past 24 years South Africa has made significant inroads insofar as gender parity and women empowerment is concerned. We have made noteworthy progress in putting in place legislation and policy frameworks for advancing equality and empowerment for women.

South African Women's Day is an annual tribute to the ongoing struggle to uplift women in South Africa and around the world. Nationally recognized as an official holiday in its home country, this occasion has been brought to the United States for the past 5 years through the efforts of the Brand South Africa and South African Women's Alliance.

It is with this proud sense of patriotism that SAiD Pan-African Library seek your

sponsorship and partnership to adequately capture this year's youth month as the

best ever! As Brand South Africa, your efforts are vital to the success of the

opening of this year youth day on FRIDAY 28th June 2019 in Houston.

This events in Houston commemorates the Soweto Uprising in South Africa. On 16

June 16 1976, about 20,000 students from Soweto undertook a peaceful protest

march against the Bantu education system which was poorly equipped,

overcrowded, separated and run by inadequately trained professionals. The

protest, which originally began as a result of an apartheid directive that stated

that the Afrikaans language be used on an equal basis with the English language,

ended in bloodshed as nearly 700 people, mostly adolescents, were murdered by

the apartheid government's police.

A lot is known about South Africa and its struggle for liberation. Names such as

Nelson Mandela resonates well with people across the globe including here in

United States. The rhetorical question we pose though is how did South Africans

overthrow the apartheid regime, a victory which foresaw many of its leaders

being freed from jail and others returning from exile. It's sad days such as June 16

1976 that brought about that change.

My team and I are working on the package to present to you for the sponsorship

request for the SOWETO UPRISING Event in Houston on FRIDAY 28th June 2019 at

SAiD Pan African Library in Houston. We have reached out to venues, artist and caterers/ Beverage to obtain the bids and expect to have everything to you by

Thursday afternoon.

On behalf of the entire SAID team, thank you in advance for lending your voice to

our cause of building and strengthening our community through this educative

initiative. Enclosed please find a creative for the FRIDAY 28th June 2019 in

Houston.

Warm regards,
