ER Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio area, I’ve attended several colleges and universities. I was graduated

with a BA summa cum laude from Capital University, an MA in Counseling and Human Services from John Carroll University and studied in the doctoral program in Urban Ed at Cleveland State University.

ER I have PCC licensure in the state of Ohio. When I am not doing counseling or

residential program management, I’m doing photography, painting, drawing or writing. This young man is Maikel, who lives in Cuba.

ER My scope of practice includes Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment, trauma, mental health and

substance abuse assessment and Motivational Interviewing. Most of my clients have been diagnosed with serious and persistent mental disorders, trauma and chemical dependency.

ER My travels have taken me to Cuba, where I have a book and several articles published. Here in the US, I’ve had an

article published and have provided several people assistance and consultation in articles, research, theses and dissertations.This family’s portrait was taken in a town called Bombi in the Sierra Maestra mountains of Cuba.

ER I present on topics including boundaries and ethics, cultural aspects of mental health, treatment plan development

ER I work at MHS in Cleveland, OH. I’m the residential counselor and acting program manager for Edgewood Park, an

apartment building using the Housing First model, which moves people from chronic homelessness to safe and secure homes with on-site services. I began in 2001 managing one of the Safe Haven programs, and our program placed first and second in the county three years in a row.

ER I have two other jobs in addition to my full-time position at MHS. One is Behavioral Health Intake for the

Cleveland clinic and the other is PASARR Assessor for Ascend Management of Nashville, TN. Both positions are contract. This lady resides in Las Tunas, Cuba.
