DEFINITION

• SUICIDE: self-inflicted death with evidence that the person intended to die

• SUICIDE ATTEMPT: self-injurious behavior with nonfatal outcome with intention of dying

• SUICIDAL IDEATION: thoughts of wanting to die; seriousness varies
