1. Before installing Esko Suite 12

Before you install Esko Suite 12 prerequisites or Esko Suite 12 Engines on your system, preparethe following:

• Install Esko Suite 12 on a "clean" system, where no Esko software has been installed yet. If EskoSuite software is installed on your computer, upgrade to Esko Suite 12 instead.

• You will need the following DVDs: Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation andSuite 12 Engines installation.

Note: If you downloaded the software from MySoftware.esko.com, you will need to mount thecorresponding .iso files as virtual DVDs, or unpack the .iso files first.

• Your Windows operating system must be a server type.• You need to have Administrator privileges.• You need Internet access.• Your computer must meet the minimum requirements for the installation, as described on

www.esko.com/en/SystemRequirements.• Data Execution Prevention (DEP) must not block the installation.• The Password Policy must not block the installation.• You must make sure your Anti-virus software is not blocking the installation or configuration• You must not have a full SQL server installed on your system.• You must not have a ISS web server installed on your system.• You need a product key file for the Esko Suite 12 products. If you do not have a product key file

yet, contact Esko Customer Support.• When upgrading, it is advised that all users save their work, disconnect from the Automation

Engine Server, and close Automation Engine Pilot.

1.1 How to change Data Execution Prevention (DEP)Settings

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that helps prevent damage from viruses andother security threats by monitoring your programs to make sure they use the computer's memorysafely. Before installing Esko Suite 12 Engines, make sure that DEP does not block the installation.

1. In Control Panel, click System > Advanced System Settings .

2. Click the Advanced tab.

3. Under Performance, click Settings.

4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.

5. Select Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.

6. Click OK.

7. Restart the computer.

1.2 How to change the password policy

A password policy is a set of rules designed to enhance computer security by encouraging usersto employ strong passwords and use them properly. Before installing Esko Suite 12 Engines, makesure that the password policy on your system does not block the installation.

1. In Control Panel, click Administrative Tools.

2. In the Administrative Tools window, double-click Local Security Policy.

3. In the Local Security Policy window, double-click Account Policies > Password Policy .

4. In the right pane, double-click Password must meet complexity requirements.

5. Select Disabled.

6. Click OK.

2. How to install the Suite 12 Enginesprerequisite components

You install the Suite 12 prerequisite components in the following order:

2.1 How to install the Suite 12 prerequisite components

To install Esko Suite 12 Engines on a system where no Esko software has been installed yet, proceedas follows:

1. Open the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation distribution DVD intothe DVD drive, or mount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Read Me First to see important installation and product information.

4. Click Proceed to the installation.

5. When asked to choose the installation scenario, click proceed here in the row install the Suite12 software for the first time on this computer.

6. Perform the System Readiness Check. See How to perform the System Readiness Check.

2.2 How to perform the Suite 12 System ReadinessCheck

Before you install the Suite 12 engines, a System Readiness Check is required. This readiness check,checks whether the operating system is suited for installation and running Esko Suite 12 products.

1. In the Suite 12 Engines prerequisite components window, click Run the Suite 12 EnginesSystem Readiness Check.

2. At the end of the Readiness Check, read the resulting messages carefully.

3. If the Readiness Check resulted in a problem with:

Options Description

The password policy Change the password policy.

4. Click Exit.

5. Install the Configuration Manager. See How to install Configuration Manager 1.0.

2.3 How to install Configuration Manager 1.0

Only install the Configuration Manager if there is no Configuration Manager active on your networkyet. There can only be one Configuration Manager active on the network.

1. In the Suite 12 Engines prerequisite components window, click Install the ConfigurationManager > Install the Configuration Manager 1.0 .

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3. Read the Software and Data license agreement carefully and select Yes, I accept the licenseagreement.

4. When asked to select the modules to install on the computer, select Configuration Manager 1.0and Station Information Service 1.0.

5. Select the Destination Folder for the chosen modules, or accept the defaults.

6. When the wizard asks if you are ready to continue, click Yes to start the installation process.If there is another Configuration Manager active on the network, the Installation Wizard will warnyou of its presence and will prompt you to cancel the installation.

7. After each step of the installation, an installation log will be visible. Click Wait to review theinstallation log or Continue to continue the installation.The installer of Configuration Manager will check if Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 RedistributablePackage and MAPI support libraries are installed. If not, their Installation Wizards will start duringthe installation process of the Configuration Manager.

8. When the installation is finished, click Go back in the top-right corner of the page to return tothe First Installation page.

9. Install the License Server components. See How to install the License Server components.

2.4 How to install the Esko License Server

The Esko Suite 12 products are protected with licenses. These licenses are distributed as a productkey file (in .html). To import the licenses into the License Server, the product keys in the product keyfile must be activated using the Activate Server Licenses utility.

You need:

• A product key file for the Esko Suite 12 products. If you do not have a product key file yet, contactEsko Customer Support.

• Internet access to activate the licenses.• An Esko Activation Account in order to activate the licenses. Get one at http://www.esko.com/

licensing/CreateAccount.

1. In the Suite 12 Engines prerequisite components window, click Install the License ServerComponents.

2. Install the License Server by clicking Install the System Controller 1.0.

3. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

4. When the installation is finished, click Load the licenses > Activate Network Licenses .

5. In the Esko Network License Manager, click Activate.

6. Follow the instructions of the Activate License Wizard.

7. When asked how to activate the licenses, choose on-line activation.

8. When asked about the product keys, choose I have a file containing one or more product keys.

9. Click Browse to select the product key file.

10.When asked, fill in your Account Name and Password.

11.Click Finish.The licensed products you can use are now visible in the License Server.

12.Close the License Manager and click Go back in the top-right corner of the page to return to theFirst Installation page.

2.5 How to install the Automation Engine prerequisitecomponents

Various prerequisite components are required for installation, depending on the products which areto be installed on the particular system. The Installation Wizard for the prerequisite components willcheck the licenses, list the prerequisite components to install on the system, request confirmationfor installation and actually install the required components.

The installation wizard will install the following components:

• Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable• Database Engine for the Automation Engine component• Database Engine for the Application Server component• Esko Application Server component• Esko CAD-X component (only when ArtiosCAD is not installed on your system)

1. In the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation window, click Check and InstallSuite 12 Engines Prerequisites Components.

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3. When asked to enter a password for the SQL Server, click Use Default.

4. When all components have been installed, close Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite ComponentsInstallation and eject the distribution DVD.

5. Install the Suite 12 engines. See How to install Automation Engine 12.

2.6 How to install the FlexProof/E prerequisitecomponents

Various prerequisite components are required for installation, depending on the products which areto be installed on the particular system. The Installation Wizard for the prerequisite components willcheck the licenses, list the prerequisite components to install on the system, request confirmationfor installation and actually install the required components.

The installation wizard will install the following components:

• Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable• Proof Server components

1. In the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation window, click Check and InstallSuite 12 Engines Prerequisites Components.

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3. During the installation of Esko Profiles, when asked to select the setup type, choose Custom.

Complete will install all features, which is not recommended. Only select Complete when notsure which printer devices you own.

4. Select the desired printer devices from the list.

5. Select Server and Client as the features you want to install.

6. When all components have been installed, close Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite ComponentsInstallation and eject the distribution DVD.

7. Install the Suite 12 engines. See How to install FlexProof/E.

2.7 How to install the FlexRip prerequisite components

Various prerequisite components are required for installation, depending on the products which areto be installed on the particular system. The Installation Wizard for the prerequisite components willcheck the licenses, list the prerequisite components to install on the system, request confirmationfor installation and actually install the required components.

The installation wizard will install the following components:

• Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable• Bitmap Viewer (if the licenses are present)

1. In the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation window, click Check and InstallSuite 12 Engines Prerequisites Components.

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3. If necessary, click Install Bitmap Viewer.

4. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

5. Select the Destination Directory or accept the default.

6. Select the file types which you want to associate with Bitmap Viewer or accept the defaults.

7. When all components have been installed, close Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite ComponentsInstallation and eject the distribution DVD.

8. Install the Suite 12 engines. See How to install FlexRip.

3. How to install Suite 12 engines software

3.1 How to install Automation Engine 12

1. Open the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation distribution DVD into the DVD drive, ormount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Proceed to the installation.

4. When asked to choose the installation scenario, click proceed here in the row install the Suite12 software for the first time on this computer.

5. Click Install the Suite 12 Engine products.

6. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

7. Read the Software and Data license agreement carefully and select Yes, I accept the licenseagreement.

8. When asked to select the products to install on this system, select Automation Engine 12.

The group System Components cannot be deselected and will be installed on all systems.

9. Select the Destination Folder for the chosen products or accept the defaults.

10.At the end of the installation, click Finish.

11.Create a backup of the Automation Engine Server and the Automation Engine database. See Howto create a full backup of Automation Engine 12.

3.2 How to install FlexProof/E

1. Open the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation distribution DVD into the DVD drive, ormount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Proceed to the installation.

4. When asked to choose the installation scenario, click proceed here in the row install the Suite12 software for the first time on this computer.

5. Click Install the Suite 12 Engine products.

6. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

7. Read the Software and Data license agreement carefully and select Yes, I accept the licenseagreement.

8. When asked to select the products to install on this system, select Imaging Engine 12 FlexRip/Proof and Color Engine Pilot 12.

The group System Components cannot be deselected and will be installed on all systems.

9. Select the Destination Folder for the chosen products or accept the defaults.

10.In the New Dispatcher window, choose the Name or accept the default.

11.In FlexRip Configurator, click Continue.

12.At the end of the installation, click Finish.

3.3 How to install FlexRip

1. Open the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation distribution DVD into the DVD drive, ormount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Proceed to the installation.

4. When asked to choose the installation scenario, click proceed here in the row install the Suite12 software for the first time on this computer.

5. Click Install the Suite 12 Engine products.

6. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

7. Read the Software and Data license agreement carefully and select Yes, I accept the licenseagreement.

8. When asked to select the products to install on this system, select the Imaging Engine 12 FlexRipflavors of your choice.

The group System Components cannot be deselected and will be installed on all systems.

9. Select the Destination Folder for the chosen products or accept the defaults.

10.In the New Dispatcher window, choose a Name and select the Device Type or accept the defaults.

11.In FlexRip Configurator, click Continue.

12.At the end of the installation, click Finish.

4. How to create a full backup ofAutomation Engine 12

In Esko Suite 12, the restore point has been replaced by the backup function in the new web tool.You can use this new backup function to create a backup of the server configuration, the databasesand the used resources.

To create a backup, proceed as follows:

1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://servername:9999/, where servername isthe name of your server running Automation Engine.

2. Go to the Server Admin page and log in with user admin and password admin.

3. On the left panel, choose Backup.

4. In the Server Backup window, select the file path for the Backup folder or accept the default.

5. Click Make backup now.

6. Select Configuration, Databases, Resources and click OK.When the message Backup successfully completed prompts, the backup is done.

5. How to run Automation Engine Pilot

No installation is required for Automation Engine Pilot. The Automation Engine Pilot is a Java WebStart application. This means that the Pilot no longer needs to be installed on the individual computersof your users. Also, whenever your Automation Engine Server is updated, the Pilot client applicationwill automatically be updated for all your users.

To run the Automation Engine Pilot, proceed as follows:

1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://servername:9999/, where servername isthe name of your server running Automation Engine.

2. On the Client Apps page, click Launch next to Automation Engine Pilot.The Automation Engine Pilot will start.

6. Before upgrading to Esko Suite 12

Before you upgrade to Esko Suite 12, prepare the following:

• You will need the following DVDs: Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation andSuite 12 Engines installation.

Note: If you downloaded the software from MySoftware.esko.com, you will need to mount thecorresponding .iso files as virtual DVDs, or unpack the .iso files first.

• You need a working version of Esko Suite 10. If you have a version of Esko Suite 7, contact EskoCustomer Support.

• Your computer must meet the minimum requirements for the installation, as described onwww.esko.com/en/SystemRequirements.

• You need a product key file for the upgrade. If you do not have a product key file yet, contactEsko Customer Support.

• Make sure no users are using the system or are connected to the server.

Specific system requirements for Mac clients

7. How to upgrade to Esko Suite 12

You perform the upgrade to Esko Suite 12 in the following order:

7.1 How to create a restore point in Suite 10

A restore point consists of a backup of the Automation Engine server and a backup of the AutomationEngine database. Before upgrading to Suite 12, you must create a restore point.

1. Start the Server Admin Wizard.

2. In the Automation Engine Administration, click the Automation Engine tab.

3. Click Manage RestorePoints.

4. Click Set up RestorePoint.

5. Select the location where the backups will be stored or accept the default.

6. Click Create RestorePoint.

7.2 How to upgrade the Esko Suite 12 prerequisitecomponents

To upgrade prerequisite components to version 12, proceed as follows:

1. Open the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation distribution DVD intothe DVD drive, or mount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Read Me First to see important installation and product information.

4. Click Proceed to the installation.

5. When asked to choose the installation scenario, click proceed here in the row upgrade an existingSuite 10 installation.

7.3 How to upgrade the License Server

The Esko Suite 12 products are protected with new licenses. These licenses are distributed as aproduct key file (in .html). To import these new licenses into the License Server, you must first upgradethe License Server components.

1. In the Suite 12 Engines prerequisite components window, click Update the LicensingComponents.

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

During the upgrade of the System Controller, the current License Server will be stoppedtemporary, during which time the current used licenses will be unavailable.

3. When the installation has finished, click Load the new licenses.

4. In the Load new licenses window, click Activate Server Licenses.

5. In the Esko Network License Manager, click Activate.

6. Follow the instructions of the Activate License Wizard.

7. Select on-line activation.

8. Select I have a file containing one or more product keys.

9. Click Browse to select the product key file.

10.Fill in your Account Name and Password.

11.Click Finish.The licenses for the upgraded products which you can use are now listed in the License Manager.

12.Close the License Manager and click Go back in the top-right corner of the page.

13.If you want to install:

7.4 How to upgrade the Automation Engine or FlexRipprerequisite components

To upgrade the prerequisite components for the Automation Engine or FlexRip, proceed as follows:

1. In the Suite 12 Engines prerequisite components window, click Check and upgrade theprerequisite components.

The installation wizard will check which components are installed on your system and willautomatically upgrade them to the latest version.

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3. If the wizard for Bitmap Viewer appears, select the Destination Directory or accept the default.

4. When the Bitmap Viewer installation wizard prompts you which file types Bitmap Viewer shouldbe associated with, select the file types of your choice or accept the defaults.

5. When the components have been installed, close Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite ComponentsInstallation and eject the distribution DVD.

6. Upgrade the Esko Suite Engines. See How to upgrade the Esko Suite Engines software.

7.5 How to upgrade the FlexProof/E prerequisitecomponents

To upgrade the prerequisite components for FlexProof/E, proceed as follows:

1. Close all programs.

You will be prompted to restart your computer during the upgrade process.

2. In the Suite 12 Engines prerequisite components window, click Check and upgrade theprerequisite components.

The installation wizard will check which components are installed on your system and willautomatically upgrade them to the latest version.

3. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

4. If the wizard for Bitmap Viewer appears, select the Destination Directory or accept the default.

5. When the Bitmap Viewer installation wizard asks you which file types Bitmap Viewer should beassociated with, select the file types of your choice or accept the defaults.

6. A Browse for Folder window will prompt you to create a backup file of the Proof Server. Choosethe destination folder for the backup file or accept de default.

The installation wizard will first uninstall the previous version of the Proof Server, before installingthe new version. When the new version of the Proof Server is installed, the installation wizard willautomatically load the backup file.

7. When the installation wizard prompts you to restart the computer, restart your computer.

If you choose No, I will restart my computer later, you might experience trouble during the furtherupgrade process.

8. When the computer has restarted, double-click setup.exe in the root folder and go back to theSuite 12 Engines prerequisite components window.

9. Click Check and upgrade the prerequisite components to continue the upgrade process.

10.During the installation of Esko Profiles, select Custom setup type.

Complete will install all features (not advised). Only select Complete when you are unsure whatprinter devices you own.

11.When the Esko Proofinstallation wizard prompts to restart the system, restart your computer.

If you choose No, I will restart my computer later, you might experience trouble during the furtherupgrade process.

12.Repeat steps 8 and 9.

13.When the components have been installed, close Suite 12 Engines Prerequisite ComponentsInstallation and eject the distribution DVD.

7.6 How to upgrade the Esko Suite Engines software

After the upgrade of the prerequisite components, your system is ready to upgrade the Suite 12engines.

1. Open the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 Engines Software Installation distribution DVD into the DVD drive, ormount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Proceed to the installation.

4. Click proceed here in the row upgrade an existing Suite 10 installation.

5. Click Upgrade the Suite 10 Assembly 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 Engines software.

6. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

The wizard lists all the Suite 12 Engines products that will be upgraded.

7. Select the Destination Folder for the chosen products or accept the defaults.

8. At the end of the installation, click Finish.

9. Create a backup of the Automation Engine Server and the Automation Engine database. See Howto create a full backup of Automation Engine 12.

You perform the upgrade from Esko Suite 12 assembly 1 to Esko Suite 12 assembly 2 in the followingorder:

1. Create a Backup in Esko Suite 122. Upgrade the prerequisite components.3. Do one of the following:

• Upgrade the Automation Engine or Flexrip prerequisite components.• Upgrade the Flexproof prerequisite components.

4. Upgrade the Engines software (Automation Engine, Imaging Engine / Flexrip, Color Engine, ....5. Go to MySoftware.esko.com/HotFixes, and check for recomended hotfixes for your software

version. Download and install those hotfixes.

8.1 How to create a full backup of Automation Engine 12

In Esko Suite 12, the restore point has been replaced by the backup function in the new web tool.You can use this new backup function to create a backup of the server configuration, the databasesand the used resources.

To create a backup, proceed as follows:

1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://servername:9999/, where servername isthe name of your server running Automation Engine.

2. Go to the Server Admin page and log in with user admin and password admin.

3. On the left panel, choose Backup.

4. In the Server Backup window, select the file path for the Backup folder or accept the default.

5. Click Make backup now.

6. Select Configuration, Databases, Resources and click OK.When the message Backup successfully completed prompts, the backup is done.

8.2 How to upgrade the Esko Suite 12 assembly 2prerequisite components

To upgrade prerequisite components to version 12 assembly 2, proceed as follows:

1. Open the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines Prerequisite Components Installation distributionDVD into the DVD drive, or mount the corresponding .iso file, the window appearsautomatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Read Me First to see important installation and product information.

4. Click Proceed to the installation.

5. When asked to choose the installation scenario, click proceed here in the row upgrade an existingSuite 12 installation.

8.3 How to upgrade the Automation Engine or FlexRipprerequisite components

To upgrade the prerequisite components for the Automation Engine or FlexRip, proceed as follows:

1. In the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines prerequisite components window, click Check and upgradethe prerequisite components.

The installation wizard will check which components are installed on your system and willautomatically upgrade them to the latest version.

2. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

3. If the wizard for Bitmap Viewer appears, select the Destination Directory or accept the default.

4. When the Bitmap Viewer installation wizard prompts you which file types Bitmap Viewer shouldbe associated with, select the file types of your choice or accept the defaults.

5. When the components have been installed, close Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines PrerequisiteComponents Installation and eject the distribution DVD.

6. Upgrade the Esko Suite Engines. See How to upgrade the Esko Suite Engines software.

8.4 How to upgrade the FlexProof/E prerequisitecomponents

To upgrade the prerequisite components for FlexProof/E, proceed as follows:

1. Close all programs.

You will be prompted to restart your computer during the upgrade process.

2. In the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines prerequisite components window, click Check and upgradethe prerequisite components.

The installation wizard will check which components are installed on your system and willautomatically upgrade them to the latest version.

3. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

4. If the wizard for Bitmap Viewer appears, select the Destination Directory or accept the default.

5. When the Bitmap Viewer installation wizard asks you which file types Bitmap Viewer should beassociated with, select the file types of your choice or accept the defaults.

6. A Browse for Folder window will prompt you to create a backup file of the Proof Server. Choosethe destination folder for the backup file or accept de default.

The installation wizard will first uninstall the previous version of the Proof Server, before installingthe new version. When the new version of the Proof Server is installed, the installation wizard willautomatically load the backup file.

7. When the installation wizard prompts you to restart the computer, restart your computer.

If you choose No, I will restart my computer later, you might experience trouble during the furtherupgrade process.

8. When the computer has restarted, double-click setup.exe in the root folder and go back to theSuite 12 assembly 2 Engines prerequisite components window.

9. Click Check and upgrade the prerequisite components to continue the upgrade process.

10.During the installation of Esko Profiles, select Custom setup type.

Complete will install all features (not advised). Only select Complete when you are unsure whatprinter devices you own.

11.When the Esko Proofinstallation wizard prompts to restart the system, restart your computer.

If you choose No, I will restart my computer later, you might experience trouble during the furtherupgrade process.

12.Repeat steps 8 and 9.

13.When the components have been installed, close Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines PrerequisiteComponents Installation and eject the distribution DVD.

8.5 How to upgrade the Esko Suite Engines software

After the upgrade of the prerequisite components, your system is ready to upgrade the Suite 12engines (Automation Engine, Imaging Engine / Flexrip, Color Engine, ...).

1. Insert the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines Software Installation distribution DVD into the DVD drive.The Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines Software Installation window appears. If it doesn't, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Proceed to the installation.

4. Click proceed here in the row upgrade an existing Suite 12 installation.

5. Click Upgrade the Suite 12 Assembly 1 Engines software.

6. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

The wizard lists all the Suite 12 Engines products that will be upgraded.

7. Select the Destination Folder for the chosen products or accept the defaults.

8. At the end of the installation, click Finish.

9. How to repair a system with Suite 12engines software installed

Only installed Suite 12 engines components of the same version as the ones on the DVD can berepaired/re-installed.

To repair the Suite 12 engines software, proceed as follows:

1. Open the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines Software Installation window:

• If you insert the Suite 12 assembly 2 Engines Software Installation distribution DVD into theDVD drive, or mount the corresponding .iso file, the window appears automatically.

• If you unpacked a downloaded .iso file, or if the window doesn't open automatically, double-click setup.exe in the root folder.

2. Select the installation language.

3. Click Proceed to the installation.

4. Click Repair or reinstall your Suite 12 Assembly 2 software.

10. How to configure the AutomationEngine Server

10.1 How to redirect the temporary files folder

The Esko Automation Engine Server requires a folder for creating temporary files. By default, thisis the folder C:\Esko\bg_data_fastserver_v100\tmp. Since this default folder is located onthe system partition, this could lead to disk space problems. To prevent this, you can redirect thetemporary files folder.

You need the following:

• Administrator Rights• A large disk partition

Proceed as follows to create a specific temporary folder for the Esko Automation Engine Server:

1. In Windows Explorer, create a temporary folder on a large disk partition.

2. In Control Panel, click System > Advanced System Settings .

3. Click the Advanced tab.

4. Click Environment Variables.

5. In the Environment Variables dialog, select the BG_TMP variable under System variables.

6. Click Edit.

7. Fill in the full path specification of the selected temporary folder in the Variable Value box andclick OK.

8. In the Windows Start menu, choose All Programs > Esko > Automation Engine > ActivateServer .

10.2 How to create job containers

To create a container, do the following:

1. Go to Tools > Containers to open the Containers window.

In that window, go to File > New or click .

This opens the Create Container Wizard.

3. Click Next in the wizard’s first screen.

4. Select either:

• Local Folder on the Server to create a container on your Automation Engine server,• Existing Shared Folder

5. Click Next.

6. If you selected Local Folder on the Server:

a) Select in which drive you want your container to be.

Selecting a drive shows the containers already existing on that drive.b) Click Next.c) Enter the name to give your new container.d) Enable Make this Job Container available for Macintosh if you want to be able to access it

from Pilots running on Macintosh machines.e) Click Next.

Your container is created.

f) Click Next to create another container, or Finish to leave the wizard.

7. If you selected Existing Shared Folder:

a) Enter the Computer Name of the machine where the share folder is located, or use theBrowse... button to select that machine in your network.

b) Click Next.c) The wizard shows a list of all available shares on that machine. Select the share you want to

use as a container.

Attention: The existing shared folders will not be displayed if the system does not recognizethe bgsystem user (password Drupa2000).

d) Click Next.

Your container is created.e) Click Next to create another container, or Finish to leave the wizard.

10.3 How to create shares for Windows EskoAutomation Engine server-client data exchange

Next to Job Containers that you can define and use for data exchange, you can set up othershares for data exchange between Windows Esko Automation Engine server and client systems.For exchanging data through Windows shares you must set access rights correctly: full accesspermission on the Windows folder that is shared and full access permission on the share itself.

You need administrator rights.

To set up a Windows share, proceed as follows:

1. In the Start menu, click Administrative Tools > Computer Management .

2. In the Computer Management window, double-click Shared Folders > Shares .

3. Choose Action > New Share .

4. Follow the instructions of the Create A Shared Folder Wizard.

10.4 How to configure the Esko FlexRip devices

Automation Engine can output files to a variety of output devices (CDI, HP Indigo, Kodak Approval,etc.).

Automation Engine uses EskoArtwork’s FlexRip engine to RIP the file in preparation for output.

To connect Automation Engine to an output device, you need to connect it to FlexRip.

1. In the Pilot, go to Tools > Configure .

This opens the Configure dialog.

2. Select the option corresponding to your output device in the list at left (for example, select FlexRip- Proofer Output to output to a proofer).

3. Go to File > New or use the Insert key (on Windows).

This shows tabs with parameters at right.

4. In the General tab:

a) To output to a RIP, enter the name or IP address of your RIP server in RIP Node.

For a FlexProof output, enter the name / IP address of your proof server in Proofer Node.b) Enter the EskoLink port number used by the Dispatcher in EskoLink Portnr. (only for FlexRip

outputs).

Note: You can find that port number by going to Info > Ports in the Dispatcher.

c) Click the Synchronize with Rip / Synchronize with ProofNode button.

After a few seconds, your RIP/proof server is connected to Automation Engine, and you can seeits name in the Type field.

5. In the Queue tab:

a) Give your queue a name in the Queue field.b) Choose a Queue Job Limit:

• choose 1 to have the RIP handle one file at a time (this ensures the files are ripped in theorder they enter the RIP),

• choose 2 to have the RIP handle two files at once (the files may not be ripped in the orderthey enter the RIP if for example you send a big then a small file).

6. Go to File > Save to save the configuration.

You can now see the devices you are connected to in the Pilot’s Devices view.

10.5 How to create Esko Automation Engine Serverusers for Client access

10.5.1 Default users and groups

When Esko Automation Engine 12 is installed, the certain groups and users have been automaticallycreated. When creating new users, add them to these groups.

10.5.2 How to create new users

1. In the Pilot, go to Tools > Users .

2. In the Users window, do one of the following:

• go to File > New User ,

• use the CTRL + N shortcut,•

click the icon.

The New User dialog opens.

3. Enter the user's Name, Full Name, Password, Description and valid E-mail address.

4. If you want the user to be able to administer Automation Engine, check the toggle.

This will give all user access rights to that user.

5. Click OK to add your new user to the Users list.

Attention:

Creating a user via Automation Engine means that Automation Engine requests the Windows OS tocreate that user.

Some changes to that user can then no longer be made through the Automation Engine Pilot, butneed to be done via the Windows user administration tools.

10.6 How to add domain users to the Automation EnginePilot

Check the following:

• You need to have administrator rights.• The Automation Engine Server must be put on the active directory.• On the active directory, the BGSYSTEM user with the password of the Automation Engine Server

must be present as normal user.• If Windows domain users are to be granted access to Automation Engine Pilot functionality, add

them to the group BGUSERS or BGADMIN.

To add a Windows domain user to the BGUSERS group, proceed as follows:

1. In the Start menu, click Administrative Tools > Computer Management .

2. In the Computer Management window, double-click Local Users and Groups > Groups .

3. In the Name list, right-click the BGUSERS group and choose Add to Group.The BGUSERS Properties window will be displayed, showing all its members.

4. Click Add

5. Add the domain users. If needed, click Check Names.

6. Click OK to add the user to the group.
