PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONSOur parent/child swim lessons promote water enrichment andaquatic-readiness activities for children and their parents or othertrusted adults. In this program, the developmental experiences of eachchild are used to build the child's self-confidence in and out of the water.Parents learn from the instructor's example how to guide their childrenthrough positive reinforcement and appropriate praise. Instructors arecertified in the YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Program.

GROUP PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONSGroup Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3-5)These programs offer children their first experience in the water withouta parent. Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocksof swimming, including water propulsion, floating, body awareness andindependence. They are also taught some general aquatic safety andpool games. Children will be taught with and without the use of variousinstructional flotation devices.

There are four levels based on developmental abilities:

• Pike (Beginner)• Eel (Intermediate)

Instructors are certified in the YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Program.

• Ray (Advanced Intermediate)• Starfish (Advanced)

YOUTH PROGRAMSAt the Y, we're committed to helping kids betheir best selves. Through the Y's school ageprograms, youth cultivate the values, skills andrelationships that lead to positive behaviors,better health, meaningful friendships,self-confidence and educational achievement,all while having fun!

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMSDeveloping character and friendships in a safe and nurturingenvironment. The YMCA's before and after school programs are morethan just child care. They're enrichment programs designed to meet thedevelopmental needs of children with an emphasis on experiential learning,social and emotional development and the promotion of healthy living, allwhile providing a fun, safe and nurturing environment for children. In ourprograms, parents have peace of mind, knowing their child is in a supportiveenvironment focused on developing their true potential.

The Irving Park YMCA provides before school programming for PortagePark, Belding, Disney II Elementary, Gray and Sabin Schools. The cost permonth is $130 for members and $160 for non-members. The programbegins at 7 a.m. and will get your child to school on time!

The Irving Park YMCA provides after school programming for the followingschools: Belding, Disney II, O.A. Thorp, Bateman, Gray, Murphy, PortagePark, Beaubien and Edison Regional Gifted Center.

SCHOOL DAY OUTCamp and School Day Out Options

Keeping Kids Safe and Engaged When School is Out.

Looking for a child care option when your kids are out of school due to aschool holiday, weather closing or winter or spring break? When school'sout, the Y is there to keep kids safe and engaged in fun, healthy activities.Our School Day Out options are designed to engage children in healthyphysical activity and foster positive social interactions. Our programs offerthe highest-quality instruction and supervision, provided by trained andqualified staff members.

School Day Out is a child care programs that runs from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.for children ages 5-14 when school is not in session. Registration forthe program must be done at least by the day prior, as we do not acceptregistration the day of. An emergency packet from this school year needs tobe on file for attendance. Parents need to provide a nut-free lunch, snackand swim suit for their child. IPY follows the CPS school calendar. We willoffer some private School Days Out by request with 10 or more childreninterested in attending.

The cost of School Days Out is $50/day for members and $80/dayfor non-members.

Check back in August for our School Days Out for the 16-17 school year.

YOUTH SPORTSThe Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming activeand developing healthy habits they will continue throughout their lives. Ina Y sports program, your child will meet friends, learn new skills, improvehis or her fitness and most importantly have fun! Whether it's gaining theconfidence that comes with learning a new sport, building the positiverelationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, or refiningand improving skills, participating in sports at the Y is about building thewhole athlete, inside and out.

Volleyball I Volleyball skills and drills with instruction and scrimmage play.

Judo (Saturday) Judo literally means "the gentle way." This ancient martialart makes use of the opponent's strength to overcome him or her. The maintechniques of this art are tripping, sweeping, throwing, and both stand-upand ground grappling.

MIDDLE SCHOOL& TEEN PROGRAMSThe Y offers middle school youth and teens differentprograms to help them focus on enhancing their athleticand sportsmanship skills, develop healthy habits,build self-confidence and a sense of belonging, createan awareness and sense of responsibility for theircommunity and improve academic performance. Byproviding young adults with an opportunity to learn andgrow, we're creating healthier and stronger communities.

YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUEGet ready to score a touchdown! The YMCA will be offeringa Youth Flag Football League this fall. The league will consist ofboth skill development and gameplay. For more information,contact Kevin Garner at 773.326.2608 or [email protected].

TEEN LEADERS CLUBLeaders club is a volunteer group, for ages 12-18, where theteens plan projects for cause they care about. Teens buildindependence, character, and 21st century skills while earningservice hours and developing confidence and close friendships.

Sports Party:Theme parties include two hours of fun (and two hosts)! The first 90 minutesis organized games, and during the last 30 minutes the party host gets thechildren back to the party room to sing happy birthday and eat cake.

An energized game of the chosen sport will be played, adjusted tomeet all abilities to ensure fun for everyone. Sports available: basketball,soccer, dodgeball.

Fee: Member $225, Non-Member $330

Pool Party:Each party is scheduled for two hours and includes admission for 25 guests(includes all adults and children that gain admission to the pool area, even ifthey are not swimming). You will be assigned a party room with a table andchairs, party host and certified lifeguard.
