BE GREAT RECOGNITION DINNER BGC WEEK Thank you to our sponsor, Bay Coast Bank , for helping us put Boys and Girls Club Week together! The Boys & Girls Club of Fall River held its “BE GREAT” recognion dinner on Monday, June 18th at White’s of Westport. The event is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of Club members and long standing volunteers. Co-sponsoring the event were RE/MAX and Liberty Ulies. Our guest speaker was William McGuinness , the Club’s 2006 Youth of the Year. Also, this year’s Youth of the Year, Yanka Camacho , spoke about what the Club means to her and how the Club and staff have impacted her life. Mike Miozza presented Yanka the Hannah Raposo Memorial Youth of the Year trophy and Board Member, Robert Bogan (pictured with Yanka), presented her with a $4,000 Paul Bogan Scholarship. Yanka is aending MA College of Pharmacy in the fall. Volunteers receiving special recognion were Board Member JoAnne O’Neil and volunteer Reverend Robert Lawrence. Both were presented the Champion of Youth Award. The Champion of Youth Award recognizes the service and commitment of an individual who has had a tremendous impact on the Boys & Girls Club of Fall River and the youth served by our organizaon. The award is presented to those who, through words, acons, and financial support show unwavering dedicaon to improving the lives of young people in our community.

Thank you to our sponsor, Bay Coast Bank, for helping us put Boys and Girls Club Week together!

The Boys & Girls Club of Fall River held its “BE GREAT” recognition dinner on Monday, June 18th at White’s of Westport. The event is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of Club members and long standing volunteers. Co-sponsoring the event were RE/MAX and Liberty Utilities.

CORNERSTONE GOLF TOURNAMENT HELD AUG. 3RDCAMP WELCH CAMPERS OF THE YEAR 2018!

THANK YOU to Marissa Ferris, Alyssa Karam, and the Friends of Greater Fall River for choosing us as the recipients of this year’s spin-a-thon held at SALT Cycle Studio. This event raised a total of $8,000!! WOW!

Thank you to our friends at the Bristol County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Fall River’s Police Department for the AMAZING K9 presentation, as well as the FRPD Special Ops Division for coming to Camp to play a monster kickball game and hangout with the kids.

AMAZON DAY

BIKES FOR KIDS

Amazon’s Fall River fulfillment center and Amazon Robotics in Boston surprised the Club with more than $10,000 worth of STEM learning items and grants. Under this year’s camp theme “Full STEAM Ahead.” Amazon associates also spent time working side-by-side with children in a cardboard boat-building contest with repurposed materials.

TORCH CLUB SUMMIT4 members of our Torch Club were sent to participate at the Regional Torch Club Summit in Greenwich, CT. There was a total of 25 clubs in attendance.

• Participate in engaging workshops which will provide them with the skills and tools to have an effective and successful Torch Club

• Complete a community service project

• Meet with peers from around the region to learn, speak about and share ideas about current youth issues

• Reward Torch Club members for their hard work all year by having two days packed with fun and the opportunity to make great friends

The purpose of the Torch Club Summit is to bring together Clubs from across the Northeast Region and allow members to:

MASSACHUSETTS STATE YOUTH OF THE YEAR

This year our Club hosted the 2 day Massachusetts State Youth of the Year event. All nominees stayed at the Westport Hampton Inn and spent day 1 having fun at the club before their interviews the next day. The Massachusetts State Youth of the Year was awarded at the banquet the following day at Whites of Westport!
