Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers
Toddlers’ Tango Friday, June 1 at 10:15 & 11:00am
Join Tamar Frieden of Toddlers' Tango for music, fun
and learning. Children will play instruments, dance
with streamers, play with a parachute, and learn a
new language while singing and dancing.
For ages 1-5. Registration required.
Family Storytime Wednesdays at 10am (July 11 - August 15)
Join us each week for stories, songs, crafts and more!
Have fun as Miss Maggie & Miss Kori will present a
different theme each week.
Recommended for ages 2-6.

Wiggleworms (Formerly known as Kids in Motion)
Wednesdays at 11am (July 11 - August 15)
Parents and caregivers, get your toddler/preschooler
moving and dancing with this fun, interactive
program. Your kids will have a ball playing with shakey
eggs, scarves and other props and musical
instruments.
Recommended for ages 2-6.
Registration required each week.
Open Play Thursdays at 11am (July 12 - August 16)
Families, we invite you to come explore our library's
fun resources with this guided play hour hosted by our
teen volunteer squad. This is a great time to socialize
with other families while reading, writing, singing,
talking and playing!
Recommended for ages 4 & under.

Year-Round Reading Program Last summer, we launched our 1,000 Books Before
Kindergarten program. Since then, we’ve had 4 kids
complete the program and over 20,000 books have
been read!
To sign up, visit OFL and ask for your first reading log or
print one from our website. For each 100 books read,
your child will receive a prize. When they’ve read
1,000 books, they will receive a custom t-shirt that they
can wear with pride! To claim prizes, turn in your
child’s completed reading logs to library staff.

universe all your own with Imagination Playground!

Celebrate the 4th of July by making a patriotic
pinwheel you can display at your house!

Weather permitting, we will have fun outdoor toys
available in Nana’s Garden.

baby chicks
at the library!
This is very EGG-CITING… This summer, we will be
incubating chicken eggs! The eggs will arrive the
week of July 9th and the chicks are expected to
hatch the week of July 30th. As we await their
hatching, stop in to learn all about chickens and their
eggs… Or is it eggs and their chickens!?!
Even help us name the cuties by entering a name into
our suggestion box! We will be pulling names out of a
hat as each chick hatches.

Join our new Young Artists group. This summer, we will
be exploring modern art. Each session will feature a
short introduction to a specific style of art followed by
kids having an opportunity to create masterpieces of

Live zoo animals visit the library with an educator from
Rosamond Gifford Zoo. Learn fascinating facts and

working on a novel, movie script or comic? Join our
writing group. Play fun games to help you develop

Learn computer science with your favorite game! In
this free 4-day, 2-hour camp, students learn key
fundamentals of computer programming with
Minecraft, using the Microsoft MakeCode platform. By
the end of the camp series, students will:
Create original coding programs in their own
Minecraft world.
Learn new computer science concepts, such as
events, coordinates, variables and conditionals.
Practice using computational, problem-solving and
creative thinking skills.
No experience with MakeCode or Minecraft needed.

confidence to care for infants and school-age
children. Combining video, activities, hands-on skills
training and discussion for a complete learning
experience, this Babysitter’s Training course teaches
youths how to:
Respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid,
rescue breathing and other appropriate care
Make decisions under pressure
Communicate with parents to learn household rules
Recognize safety and hygiene issues
Feed, diaper and care for infants
Start their babysitting business

Split Rock at the
Center of the World Saturday, June 9 at 1pm
Split Rock is a former quarry, site of a disastrous
industrial accident and an off-limits location where
history has been sadly forgotten. As we approach the
100th anniversary of this shattering event (July 2), learn
how Split Rock is actually at the nexus of everything
that has impacted Central NY and beyond-
environmental awareness and degradation, industrial
growth and decline, transportation and expansion,
war and the "military industrial complex," employment
and work safety, and even trends in journalism.
Presented by Laurel Saiz, coordinator of the journalism
concentration at OCC. Her long-term interest in Split
Rock goes back to 1975 when she moved to Syracuse
and first heard about the tragic explosion.
