Summer! It’s a time to cool-off which is what our ministries

will be doing over the summer. We’ll give our awesome

teachers and leaders a break for the summer. We’ll do some

training and leadership development. And we’ll do some

trips…mission trips…continuing education trips…planning…

and more! Sunday School and small groups are going on va-

cation returning in the Fall. Golf or Volleyball? VBS or

VPK? We want you connected as we replenish our energy for

passionate pursuits of Jesus Christ. Our Summer theme: Play

hard! Pray harder! Use this summer to lift our ministries, eld-

ers, staff, and each other in prayer. Let the fellowship break

down barriers and blossom friendships. Let it be!

It’s a Summer Safari

The Preschool had a great school year and is ready to roll into summer. We

offer a summer curriculum that includes summer fun themes with a contin-

ued focus on school readiness skills. Summer VPK still has a few slots left

and is free for children who are entering Kindergarten in August and have

not already attended a VPK program.

Enrollment for the 2014/15 school-year is filling up fast. If you are

interested in part or full time preschool for next year, contact Julie or

Wendy at (863) 646-9333 or [email protected].

Did you know the first week of May was teacher appreciation week? We made

our preschool teachers feel special by providing them with lunch Tuesday, the

church staff cooked a brunch for them on Wednesday, the preschool parents

provided lunch and goodie bags on Thursday, and the week was topped off

with everyone getting a chance to visit a mobile spa set up for them on Friday.

Everyone was grateful and appreciative of the special attention they received.

You can check out pictures of our pre-

school in the May-June issue of The

Lakelander. Pictures from our school

are on pages 119, 120, 122, and 127.

The MOMS had a won-

derful year, we welcomed

new babies and new

moms into the group. We

made blankets for the

NICU and help put to-

gether bags for children

with cancer. We had pot-

lucks, game days and

guest speakers. We will

be taking the summer off

but will be meeting at dif-

ferent activities to stay in

touch. Contact Jenna for

more information.

As we advance through our calendar year, we transition through seasons

which influence our worship offerings. Summertime is typically character-

ized by sun, fun, beach vacations, and recreational activities. Our Adult and

Youth Sunday School programs take a pause over the Summer before re-

suming in the Fall. Wednesday night small groups opt for fun and fellow-

ship as well (until the return of the Fall study schedule). In addition, many

seasonal visitors have returned to their northern homesteads which explains

why you may have a little more elbow room in your seating area!

While so many areas of PCH seem to be shifting into a lower gear, the Wor-

ship Arts team continues to keep the proverbial foot on the gas. We con-

tinue to seek meaningful ways to serve each other and worship our Lord

weekly. There always seems to be an opportunity on the horizon. For ex-

ample, we are always looking for ushers and greeters to extend our warm

PCH hospitality and the coffee and kitchen area can often use a helping

hand. This summer the Worship team will be busy assessing microphone

equipment, tuning the piano, obtaining quotations for a potential new set of

drums, and recruiting a new Praise Team leader. With the Adult Choir on

hiatus, we look forward to solos, duets, and other assorted special music

from our Praise Team. All the while, our unsung media technicians partici-

pate in weekly services from behind the A/V equipment.

Are there any labors of love listed above that may interest you? While you

may be enjoying some R&R over the summer, give some prayerful consid-

eration to how you may enrich your worship experience and that of oth-

ers. Romans 12:1 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
