EASTER In order to celebrate Easter time in the school we did our best decorating giant Easter Eggs that made our corridors even more colourful and full of happiness. Moreover our assistant Emily has showed us how Easter is celebrated in the USA and we did beautiful Easter Cards for our families. But what really surprised us was the little theatre play that 6th graders performed for us the week before holidays. They told us different traditions and costumes of different english speaking countries like USA, Great Britain, Ireland or Australia like the Morris dance or the typical food. There was a girl in an Easter Bunny costume! It was fun! Con el objetivo de celebrar la Semana Santa en la escuela, decoramos huevos de Pascua gigantes que hicieron que nuestros pasillos incluso fuesen más coloridos y llenos de alegría. Además nuestra asistente Emily nos enseñó cómo se celebra la Semana Santa en los Estados Unidos e hicimos unas preciosas felicitaciones de Pascua para nuestras familias. Pero lo que realmente nos sorprendió fue la pequeña representación teatral de nuestros compañeros de 6º curso la semana antes de vacaciones. Nos contaron las diferentes tradiciones y costumbres de los diferentes países de habla inglesa, Estados Unidos, Gran Bretaña, Irlanda y Australia como el baila Morris o la comida típica. ¡Hasta había una chica disfrazada de conejo de Pascua!. ¡Fue muy divertido!

National Library

3rd of ESO students have visited the National Library where we could

see the first typwriters or really old books written before 10th

century. We really enjoyed the visit!

PARQUE DE EUROPA

1ST and 2nd grades of primary

First and second graders visited the park "Parque Europa", in Torrejón. They

saw lots of monuments from different European countries, they had a picnic

and after the visit, they had a great time in a playground. They really enjoyed

the day out!!

ACTIVIDADES DEL DEPARTAMENTO DE EDUCACIÓN FÍSICA

VELA, 4º ESO:

Los alumnos de 4º ESO disfrutaron de un día en el Pantano de San Juan realizando una clase

práctica de vela impartida por técnicos de la Federación Madrileña de Vela. La actividad fue

muy divertida y los alumnos aprendieron que este deporte requiere de mucha disciplina para

practicarlo.

BÉISBOL, 4º PRIMARIA:

L os alumnos de 4º Primaria disfrutaron de una clase magistral impartida por un técnico de la

Federación Madrileña de Beisbol. La actividad fue muy amena y los alumnos aprendieron de la

importancia de trabajar en equipo para conseguir logros en este deporte.

PIRAGÜISMO, 2º ESO:

Los alumnos de 2º ESO disfrutaron de un día en el Parque Juan Carlos I realizando una clase

práctica de piragua y orientación impartida por técnicos de la Federación Madrileña de

Piragüismo. La actividad fue muy atractiva y variada, ya que practicaron dos modalidades de canoa

distintas (piragua y dragón) y realizaron una carrera de orientación por todo el parque.

RUGBY, 5º PRIMARIA:

L os alumnos de 5º Primaria disfrutaron de una clase magistral impartida por un técnico de la

Federación Madrileña de Rugby. La actividad fue muy participativa y los alumnos aprendieron

que este deporte requiere de mucha fuerza y lógica para practicarlo.

DÍA DEL LIBRO/ WORLDBOOK DAY

INFANTIL

Los alumnos de Infantil aprendieron y recitaron poesías de Gloria Fuertes y realizaron pósters de estas

mismas.

PRIMARIA

EL QUIJOTE

1st Graders worked with the Windmills chapter, reading it and doing these paper puppets to act out

the chapter with them.

Los alumnos del 2º ciclo se centraron en el Capítulo del "Encuentro con el Rey de la Selva”

Realizaron con cartulinas y folios un resumen del capítulo pero cambiando el final de la historia, "un

final abierto". Los mejor presentados y con los finales más originales se expusieron en el tablón de

trabajos del pasillo y los demás dentro de clase.

En el tercer ciclo trabajaron con el capítulo “Encuentro con el rebaño de ovejas"

Trabajaron el capítulo en forma de cómic pero con los "bocadillos" del cómic en blanco. Cada alumno

decidió como rellenar el contenido del cómic y lo colorearon utilizando diferentes materiales. Los más

originales y mejor presentados se expusieron en el tablón de trabajos del pasillo y los demás en clase.

SECUNDARIA

Los alumnos de la ESO trabajaron el Lazarillo de Tormes. Cada curso leyó y realizó un

póster sobre el mismo que expusieron en los pasillos del centro.

ROMEO AND JULIET

El 23 de abril se celebró el Día del Libro. En el área de Inglés se recordó a Shakespeare y su exitosa obra Romeo y Julieta. Con la ayuda de la Auxiliar de Conversación, se les contó la historia de Romeo y Julieta, adaptada a su nivel, con el apoyo de dibujos realizados por alumnos de Secundaria, que representaban distintos momentos de la obra. Algunos realizaron juegos relacionados con lo aprendido o realizaron pequeñas representaciones de esta gran obra de Shakespeare. Alumnos de 2º de ESO realizaron enciclopedias sobre Shakespeare, sus obras y su tiempo. The 23rd of April Espiritu Santo school celebrated the Worldbook Day. In English subject they Shakespeare and his succesful play Romeo and Juliet was studied. With the help of the Language Assistant they were told the story, adapted to their different levels, supported by the drawings made by 1st of ESO students about some parts of the story. Some groups made games related to what they had learnt or small theatre performances of this great play. 2nd of ESO students made encyclopedias about Shakespeare, his plays and his time.

Además los alumnos de Secundaria, tras haber leído la historia y visto la película realizaron una adaptación del libro que regalaron el día 23 de Abril una copia a cada clase de Primaria como regalo del Día del Libro. Moreover, Secundary students, after having read the story and watched the movie, created an adaptation of the book that they gave to each group of Primary education as a present for the World Book Day.

TEACHER STUDY TRIP

This course has been the first time that the Espiritu Santo School promotes a Teacher Study Trip.

The aim is to provide a higher level to the Teacher Training.

The basic idea is to share the same environment of science researchers, knowing their working

place and labs and to deep in a current research about Higgs Boson, which has recently been

awarded with the Prince of Asturias.

Not only had we the chance to visit the CERN headquarters, but also we could exchange

educational experiences with the rest of teachers there and we could share all the information

gathered with our students in an informative talk that they enjoyed a lot.

Two teachers of the School, Patricia Torrejón and Antonio Aldea had the opportunity to travel to

Geneva (Switzerland) between May 29th and 30th , 2013

In addition to this we could also visit the UN headquarters, room XX: Of Human Rights,

remodelled by Spain, and the famous Barceló’s dome, Plenary Hall, Security Council

Chamber…

We wish we could find the place and time to tell you all about our visit.

BE WATER MY FRIEND

First , fifth and sixth graders did a great video sketch with the aim of expand

awareness about the importance of water and the necessity of a responsible use of

it. These videos participated in different contests and we won a FACEPM award. We

were given books and games in English as presents.

We are looking forward to doing something like this again, we had fun!
