REGISTRATION POLICY
All activities are handled on a first come, first serve basis for residents and seasonal vacationers. The Ocean City Community Services Department and the Division of Recreation Programs
reserves the right to cancel or make changes to any program due to lack of registration, inclement weather or reasons beyond
our control. Programs, dates and times are subject to change due to availability of facilities.
Program cancellation due to inclement weather watch Channel 97 or call (609) 525-9304. Acceptable methods of payment: Visa, MasterCard,
Discover, cash or checks payable to: “City of Ocean City.” For more information on programs listed call the Recreation Office at
609-525-9304. Program announcements will be distributed through schools and
at www.ocnj.us/recreation. Any program requiring a deadline for registration will be noted on the program
information flyer. A waiting list will be maintained for some programs. If an opening becomes available in a closed program
that space will be offered to the first person on the waiting list. The Division of Recreation insists that a
child should never be left at an activity or program before the person in charge arrives to accept responsibility for that
participant. It is the obligation of the parent or guardian to be aware of program schedule and times.
REGISTRATION WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED FROM A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OVER THE AGE OF 18.
(THIS IS IMPORTANT DUE TO THE INSURANCE WAIVER)
REFUND POLICY NO refunds will be given after a program begins. Refunds will
be approved only if the activity is cancelled or for medical reasons if the refund request is made in writing
(3) days before the activity begins. A copy of your receipt should accompany your request.

The Skateboard Park is located between 5th - 6th street on Asbury Ave. and is open 7 days a week.

selectorized strength training machines. There are also kettle bells and various other core stability engaging apparatus.

LEARN TO SAIL ON THE BAY
The Ocean City Sailing Foundation is offering sailing lessons to Juniors and Adults.
Classes are held at the Bayside Center, 520 Bay Ave., starting June 25 through August 25. Our OCSF mission is “to promote sailing to
youth and families in the Greater Ocean City area by providing safe, affordable sailing instruction and sailing opportunities.”
All instructors are US Sailing Level One certified. Most classes have a student to instructor ratio of 4:1. Four half-day lessons cost is $275.
Family discounts are available. Private lessons are also available each day from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, cost is $150 for up to three students.
There is also a 2 hour “Introduction to Sailing “ session $120. Youth students must be eight years of age and must be able to swim.

Ancient Civilizations Learn about the basics of history and explore a different civilization everyday. During the week we will look at the Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks, Inca and Chinese; while also completing hands on activities related to each civilization for a fun learning experience.
Forensics Ever wonder how police solve a crime? Become Bayside detectives by designing your own badge, picking out a name for your canine dog, collecting fingerprints, learning how to process a crime scene and discovering how science can help solve crimes. You will learn how to collect, record and analyze data to investigate evidence that solves crimes.

Food Science in Ocean City: The Science of Making&Baking Desserts Did you know that baking is actually a chemical reaction? When you add heat to something and it changes, we call this an endothermic reaction. So, baking is chemistry in the kitchen! Campers will learn the basics of baking and what chemical procedures (AKA recipe) are used in making yummy desserts. Kids will experiment with how to change variables in some of the experiments in the week and will be examining (tasting) each result. *Crabby Catchers (Maximum of 15 campers)* Learn the fundamentals of crabbing in southern NJ bays. Cast your nets and traps to see just how many you can catch! Bayside will supply gear to help catch crabs, but if campers would like to bring some of his or her own gear, he/she is more than welcome to do so. *Field trip this week will be a visit to Fun Time Crabbing. Water, warer is everywhere! Kids will cool off from the summer heat participating in water-based activities, experiments, water play and even art projects to discover how water is used all around us. Campers will splish and splash their way into learning about the water cycle and various other concepts of water in engaging and exciting ways! You will end the week with a beach field trip. Archaeology Did you ever want to be an archaeologist like Indiana Jones? Come and learn the basics of archaeology from what artifacts are, to how we excavate sites. You will even get to do a simulated excavation.

*Pirates (maximum of 15)* What say you matey! Take a trip back to the Golden age of Piracy and the Spanish Main. Receive your pirate name, jog on board, construct your pirate flag, pick your animal and make a treasure map! Learn about some of the most famous pirates in history and maybe stage a mutiny! Will there be a treasure in the chest this year? Lots of adventures with this experience. *Will take a pirate voyage aboard the Sea Dragon*
*Exploring the Beaches* Discover the wonderful ecosystem of the beach! Learn what animals you can see on the beaches of Ocean City! What will you find lurking when we take a field trip to the beach? Experience a Bayside Camp sandcastle contest. Explore marine biology and animals that may be swimming nearby. Dinosaurs Learn all about geologic time as you soar through the history of the Earth. Learn about dinosaurs, where modern day reptiles came from and how life evolved. Make fossils, construct dinosaurs and be a saber tooth tiger. En-joy a visit to the Ocean City beach and learn how life came from the ocean! Sharks, Rays and Skates How are they different from bony fish like goldfish and tuna? Study the more than 375 species of sharks, rays and skates. Learn about their anatomy and behaviors and how they haven’t faced extinction in more than 40 million years.
