Directions to the three sites: *All three sites are readily accessible by the
New York State Thruway*
The Penn Dixie Site can be accessed by taking the NYS Thruway to Exit 56—Blasdell. Turn right after the toll booths; make the first left onto Rte. 62 south (South Park Avenue). Proceed 1.2 miles and turn right onto Big Tree Rd. Cross one set of railroad tracks; take the first right onto Bristol Rd. Proceed to the end and turn left on North St. Penn Dixie’s entrance will be directly ahead.
Evangola State Park may be accessed by taking Rte. 5 (three miles west of Angola). If taking NYS Thruway, West to exit 57A, right on Eden-Angola Rd., left (west) on Rte.5 and after 3 miles turn right into Evangola State Park (on right).
Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve can be accessed From the East by taking the NYS Thruway to Exit 49 - Transit Road. Turn right and head south on Transit Road. Turn right on Como Park Blvd. Proceed 1 mile, then turn left onto Honorine Drive. From the west by taking the NYS Thruway, to Exit 52A - William Street. Head toward Cheektowaga on William Street to Union Road. Turn left on Union Road. Turn right on Como Park Blvd. Turn right onto Honorine Drive.

These sites include Penn Dixie (the #1 fossil park in the US), Evangola State Park and Reinstein Woods
Nature Preserve, for an exciting five days of Nature Exploration.
Girls and Boys ages 8-13 can visit three unique natural sites for a fun week of activities. Dig for
fossils, explore the hidden world of a pond, swim in Lake Erie, build a wilderness survival shelter, see bird mounts, explore two different nature centers
and much more!

Penn Dixie
Discover, collect, clean/preserve and identify 380 million year old fossils
Collect pyrite (fool’s gold) and pyritized fossils
Identify animal tracks and learn about wildlife habitat
Create a plaster cast of an animal track you find on site
Experience and observe a variety of plants and animals on a nature hike
Evangola State Park
Explore a marsh and vernal pools
Investigate various types of skulls
Explore a nature center
Enjoy a morning of fishing
Swim in Lake Erie and participate in sandcastle contests
Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve
Learn skills such as tracking and plant identification
Build a survival shelter or toad house
Investigate butterflies, frogs, dragonflies and other creatures
Hike through a unique complex of forests, ponds and wetlands
Create a nature journal
General Camp Information
Location: *Please drop off campers at the appropriate
location for daily activities*
Monday: Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve
Tuesday & Wednesday: Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center
Thursday & Friday: Evangola State Park
Time: Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm
Fee: $180 for the entire week
What to Bring: A bag lunch with drink in a non-breakable
container (re-usable containers if possible)
A healthy snack (drinking water will be provided at each site)
Clothing appropriate for the weather. Include sturdy shoes/boots, sweatshirt or jacket (labeled with child’s name)
An extra change of clothes/footwear in a labeled backpack or book bag
Bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are recommended
Bathing suit, towel and water shoes (Evangola State Park)
