SOME HALLOWEEN FUN

Friday looking for a few victims. Not to worry though, because these creatures of the night were just local kids dressed in their spook-tacular costumes and the victims most likely got away by giving away treats.

It was all part of the city’s annual Trick or Treat on Main Street. Springfield City Administrator Laurie Smith said they had a tremendous crowd and that some businesses reported giving out candy to approximately 1,000 children.

Several businesses got into the Halloween spirit by decorating their storefronts. Carolyn Hardin hands out candy in front of her store on Main Street.

Park longer than two hours and this creepy creature may make you pay a hefty fine.

The Springfield Police Department sponsored a costume contest during Trick or Treat on Main Street. Sgt. Cliff Peek was the Master of Ceremonies for the contest. The competition was fierce and the judges had a hard time picking the winners.

The winners of the 3 and under division were from left, Jourdyn Marks as Raggedy Ann, Timothy Bartley as a scarecrow and Shania Nava as a princess.

The winners of the 4-to-7-year-old division were from left, Nathan Hodgens asAbraham Lincoln, Jared Mudd as the General Lee and Emma Smith as a bride.

Costume contest winners

Jesse Smith, Jack Breunig and Jacob Graves took First Place in the 8-to-12-year-old division for thier redneck costumes.
