Today we CELEBRATE “Corpus Christi”-the MOSTHOLY BODY and BLOOD OF CHRIST. This feast goesback to the 13th century, a feast that celebrates the institu-t i on o f the Sac rament o f Ho ly Euchar i s t a t the Las tSupper. St. Thomas Aquinas considered the Eucharist tobe the greatest of all sacraments. Thus, the Church hasconsistently viewed the Eucharist as unique, even amongthe other sacraments. Thus it is fitting that a feast exist tospecif ical ly commemorate the Eucharist . The Cathol icCatechism summarizes this teaching of the importance ofthe Eucharist: The Eucharist is "the source and summit ofthe Christian life." "The other sacraments, and indeed allecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, arebound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.”Let us affirm our personal belief in the Real Presence ofJesus in the Eucharist. Let’s keep Christ in SUMMER!
In Case you missed it - We received word last week that Fr.Harper has been transferred to St. Thomas More Church inAllentown. Father has faithfully served Notre Dame for 4 years---since his ordination to the priesthood. We are grateful for his ser-vice to our Church and School, especially Fiat, our Youth Group. Aspecial Farewell Reception will be held on Sunday, June 17th,after the 9AM and 10:30AM Masses, in the Church Hall. Fr.Harper will celebrate both Masses, and will be available for yourpersonal best wishes (he’ll have more time after the 10:30AMMass). Msgr. Tom encourages all parishioners to take the time toextend a word of thanks and best wishes to Fr. Harper at this time.On June 19th, we will welcome Fr. Dan Kravatz, who will beginhis new assignment at Notre Dame! Also, Fr. Venantius T.Karobo, an Apostle of Jesus priest and the current chaplain atMuhlenberg Hospital, will reside at Notre Dame Rectory. Fr.Karobo will not usually celebrate Mass at Notre Dame, as he isalso the chaplain to the sisters at St. Francis Retreat House. OnTuesday, May 22nd, we welcomed Seminarian Alex Brown- whowill serve at Notre Dame for 2 months as part of his Seminary for-mation. Alex will begin his 4th year of College at St. CharlesSeminary, Philadelphia, in the Fall.
As of today, our parishioners have raised $87,949 from 299parishioners representing 11.68% of our total number of registeredfamilies in our parish. We need the support of all of our parishfamilies to reach our financial goal and to reach 100% participationgoal. If you have not made your pledge of support, you may returnyour pledge form to the parish office or make your gift online. Weneed the support of all of our parish families to reach our goal.Remember, every gift counts, no gift is to small. Every dollarhelps those in need. If you have any questions or would like tomake a gift visit the Appeal website atFaithHopeCharityGives.org, or call the Appeal Office at 800-831-4443. Thank you for your support!
We ask your cooperation! We invite all parishioners to honorOur Lord at Mass by staying until the end of Mass--- that is--- thefinal hymn, which is really the final prayer of Mass. A large num-ber of people receive Communion in the rear of Church, and thenrun right out! Please take the time to return to your pew---kneeldown--- and make your personal thanksgiving to the Lord. Msgr.Tom reminds us that Jesus honors us with His very best at everyMass--- let’s make sure that we give Him our very best in return.Sounds like a pretty good deal--- considering we always get morethan we give, when dealing with Christ. Please get on the samepage, and respect this holy time that we call “The Mass!” It’s onlyone hour a week--- out of 168.
