Queens Theatre - Spend your summer acting up - As part of Queens Theatre’s Show Stoppers Sum-mer Musical Theatre Program, rising young stars (ages 7-11) will create and perform an original pocket-sized musical in just two weeks? Our pro-gram takes students through the entire process of creating a musical from auditions to writing and rehearsing, culminating in a performance on our mainstage. Working with our professional and dy-namic teaching artists, students will engage their imaginations, study the process of theatre and work together as an ensemble to put on a production of their own design. QT Show Stoppers Summer Mu-sical Theatre Program is open to all kids—no expe-rience in the performing arts is needed to join in the fun. Acceptance into the program is on a first come-first served basis. Auditions for roles will take place once the session has begun. Registration deadline is July 1. Sessions run Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 4 PM (extended day is available). Sessions run Ju-ly 9-July 20; July 23-August 3; and Aug. 6-Aug. 17. For more information, contact QT’s Education Director Richard [email protected] or 718-971-5839. You can also visit our Education page at www.Queenstheatre.org. *************************************** Catholic Migration Services - Recent Updates to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). On April 24, 2018 a Judge for the Federal District Court of the District of Columbia ruled that the ad-ministration’s decision to terminate Deferred Ac-tion for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was based on “unexplained grounds” and therefore concluded that the DACA program must stay in place and the USCIS must accept new applications. However, the Judge’s decision is on hold for 90 days to give the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) time to better explain its reasoning for cancelling DACA. What this mean for DACA recipients If DHS is not able to come up with a sufficient rea-son for why they cancelled DACA, the program will continue and DHS will be forced to accept new DACA. Catholic Migration Services has current infor-mation about the New U.S. Government Policy Af-fecting Family-Based Petitions, and are available to answer any immigration questions you may have. You can contact them at Catholic Migration Ser-vices in Brooklyn at 718-236-3000 or in Queens at 347-472-3500 between 9 AM to 5 PM from Mon-day through Friday. ************************************** Listening Sessions on Racism Since the tragic and horrific events of Char-lottesville, Virginia just one year ago, we have seen the effect and impact that racism has had on our society. The Bishops of the United States have formed a committee to focus and address the sin of racism. Here in the Diocese of Brooklyn, Bishop DiMarzio has formed a commission on Racism and

Social Justice. The goal of this commission is to deal with the social and religious problems that racism in all of its forms presents to us. The com-mission would like to hear from all the faithful of the Diocese of Brooklyn. To that end we will be hosting two open listening sessions, one in Brook-lyn and one in Queens for all the faithful of the di-ocese to attend. These sessions are meant to be an opportunity for us to share how racism has impact-ed our parishes and the church as a whole. These sessions will be held on Saturday, June 16 begin-ning at 11 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi-St. Blaise Parish Center in Brooklyn and Saturday, June 23 beginning at 11 A.M. at St. Clare School Auditori-um in Queens. All are invited. *************************************** Virtus Workshop: All adults working with chil-dren including dance, lector, usher ministers, etc., are required to attend Virtus training. This training is offered around the diocese year round. “Protecting All God’s Children” next session is Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6-9 P.M. at Immacu-late Conception Center, Douglaston, Room E. Please arrive early. Late arrivals will not be admit-ted. Wheelchair accessible. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. Check Virtus.org for more workshop sites. ***************************************
