The Tauranga Art Gallery Trust has the vision of enhancing the cultural life of the region. The Gallery presents exhibitions of historical, modern and contemporary art. Education and visitor programmes are developed and delivered extending the engagement with the exhibitions.

Expressions of interest are sought for appointment to the Board of the Trust. The Trust has charitable status with the Inland Revenue Department and is a Council Controlled Organisation of the Tauranga City Council.

The Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic and fi nancial planning of the Gallery, as well as delivery of a public art gallery that is open 7 days a week, 364 days per year. The Board has broad discretion to develop the manner in which the services are provided and how the fi nancial resources are best utilised.

The persons we are looking for will:

Work effectively with the Director to create a sustainable • enterprise

Ensure that the organisation is accountable and delivers high • quality visitor experiences.

Within the Trust there will be a mix of skills including:

Experience in business and management (including • fi nancial management)

Linkages with and understanding of Tauranga Moana • Tangata Whenua

Knowledge of art education in New Zealand•

An interest and awareness of the art gallery environment • in NZ

Understanding of the cultural history of New Zealand.•

In selecting the Trustees particular focus will be on the fi rst two skill sets listed above (business and management, and understanding of Tauranga Moana Tangata Whenua) so as to complement and strengthen the existing Board.
