Creating a new bike is a long process which is very similar to a long ride in the mountains ! Some moments put a big smile on your face and give you a lot a pleasure, some other make you suffering and you think you will not make it, but at the end of the journey you always have the same feeling : you have accom-plished something special and have outpass all those difficult stages for good reasons.

From the first sketches, then computer assisted drawings, pro-totypes, endless test rides, finding the perfect combination of parts... until the complete validation, it takes a lot of time and commitment to succeed but one thing is for sure, a SUNN bike has to be perfect.

Our current project is called «CHARGER» and we are so enthu-siastic about it that we thought we will start talking about it right now !! The CHARGER will be the perfect bike for alpine riding and agressive enduro. For sure you will hear about it as soon as it will be launched during 2010...when don’t know when...let just say as always “when it will be perfect to our eyes” ;-)

La création d’un nouveau vélo est un processus que l’on peut aisément comparer à une longue sortie à VTT en montagne ! Vous vous délectez de certains moments qui vous donnent le sourire, passez également par des moments de souffrance et de doute mais au final les sentiments sont toujours les mêmes : vous avez accompli quelque chose de spécial et surpassé toutes ces difficultés pour de bonnes raisons.

Des premières ébauches, modélisations sur ordinateur, proto-types, en passant par les heures de tests sur le terrain, la sélec-tion des meilleurs composants et enfin la validation définitive du vélo; la route est longue et semée d'embûches. Une chose est toujours identique : un vélo SUNN se doit d’être parfait.

Notre projet actuel s’appelle “CHARGER” et nous sommes tel-lement enthousiastes à ce sujet que nous en parlons d’ores et déjà ! Le CHARGER sera le compagnon idéal en station de montagne et pour les courses d’enduro les plus engagées. Dans tous les cas vous entendrez parler de sa sortie courant 2010...nous ne savons pas quand...quoi qu’il arrive, unique-ment quand il sera parfait ;-)

Avant tout, il nous parait important de définir ce que nous appelons les vélos «All Mountain» chez SUNN car d’une marque à l’autre la définition peut varier. Ces dernières années, le VTT est devenu de plus en plus spécialisé avec des vélos dédiés à des pratiques bien précises. On peut citer notam-ment le cross country, la descente, le VTT en station de montagne, le freeride, les épreuves de descentes marathon… La liste est longue ! SUNN, fidèle à son image de performance, a créé des produits adaptés à la plupart de ces catégories. Seulement voilà, tout le monde n’a pas les moyens d’avoir un vélo pour chacune de ces pratiques et certains souhaitent n’avoir qu’un seul vélo permettant de tout faire. C’est pourquoi nous avons la caté-gorie All Mountain : le vélo capable de s’aligner sur une course de cross country et le lendemain prêt à aller rouler en montagne. Si vous ne deviez en avoir qu’un, il est forcément parmi notre gamme All Mountain !

First of all we thought it was essential to define what we call a “All Mountain“ at SUNN as from brand to brand the definition may vary. Those last years, mountain bike has become more and more specialized with bikes dedicated for a specific use such as XC, Downhill, Mega/Marathon DH, Freeride,… and the list goes on ! SUNN, true to its image of performance, has created products for almost all those category. Therefore, not everyone can afford to buy 4 bikes and some people want one single bike to do everything. This is why we have the All Mountain category : bikes able to race a XC and the next day go riding an epic trail in the mountains. If you only had one bike to choose, it will be for sure within our All Mountain range !

Depuis le 5003 R sorti en 1993 jusqu’au Shamann unanimement plébiscité par les magazines spécialisés, les vélos SUNN ont toujours utilisé la même recette : allier le plaisir et la performance en un seul vélo. Aujourd’hui encore, ce leitmotiv est appliqué sur notre gamme cross country même si bien entendu les évolutions technologiques de ces dernières an-nées ont considérablement amélioré les performances de nos vélos. La maîtrise de la conception et l’utilisation des meilleurs composants nous permet-tent de construire des machines à l’efficacité redoutable… les sensations en Prim’ ;-) !

From the 5003 R released in 1993 until today’s Shamann widely acclaimed by the press, the SUNN bikes have always used the same recipe : blend pure performance and riding pleasure into our bikes.
