Members Present: Guin Borstel, Audrey Boyer,
Libby deMille, Marrianne Lu, Erynn Lucas, An-
drea Meyer, Ed Odron, MJ Odron, Rick Ragan,
Che Rivera, Kim Robinson.
The meeting was called to order at 11:24 AM by
VP Mary Jean Odron
There was no President’s Report, as Debby is ill.
MJ will be running the meeting.
The minutes of the last three NCWFA meetings
were accepted by the membership present.
Motion by Ed, second by Kim.
Officers Reports
Secretary’s Report: No report
Treasurer’s Report: Guin reported on behalf of
Delia that all bills are up-to-date & the bank bal-
ances are close to $24, 000 combined.
Committee Reports
Speed: No report.
Rescue: No report.
Specialty: Our paperwork has been accepted by
the AKC, pending Del Valle KC submitting their
show documents. MJ is trying to find out if we
can have stand-alone Junior Showmanship com-
petition & is checking on this with the AKC rep at
this show.
Fast CAT: Guin reported we had a successful
event on 3/3. We ran many dogs, the weather
was perfect & we made around $2K.
Racing: Kim reported that we will hold practice
on April 6th. Questions were raised about the
upcoming National. Who do entry fees go to?
Kim checked with Nancy Szabo remotely & fees
go to the event-giving Club, minus the CWA per-
capita fee. Ed reported that we have secured
special rates at the La Quinta ($129 per night; 2
dog limit) & Motel 6 (variable rate per date, be-
tween $99 & $109 per night, no dog limit.) The
keyword to use when booking is “whippet race”.
MJ reported on Logo Items: We will have many
choices, with tee shirts and hoodies printed &
vests and hats embroidered. More info to follow
on Logo Items.
Lure Coursing: Kim is still waiting to hear back
from the prospective field in Fairfield/Travis Uni-
fied School District for our May trials. If we can’t
get permission to use it, we will have to go with
the Solano College field.
Whippetbilia: No report.
Old Business: None noted.
New Business: We need to purchase a new gen-
erator that is smaller and more powerful than
the current one. It was decided by the Board to
sell the current generator and get a new one
before May coursing. David suggested we pur-
chase a Honda 2000, which is also Jim Stewart’s
suggestion. The next meeting will be held with
the Coyote Hills show in Vallejo on May 20th.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:59 AM.
Members Present: Guin Borstel, Audrey Boyer,
Marrianne Lu, Erynn Lucas, Andrea Meyer, Bon-
nie Moore, Che Rivera.
Applicant Present: Teresa Hamilton.
The meeting was called to order by Secretary
Guin Borstel at 12:33 PM. Guin thanked those
brave members who came out in this horrible
storm and joined us for this meeting.
Officers Reports
Treasurer’s Report: Guin reported on behalf of
Delia that the combined bank balances are
around 22K, with a few bills outstanding.
Committee Reports
Racing: Bonnie reported that entries are rolling in
for the 6/1-6/2 meets. We still need a judge for
the Sunday match. Erynn volunteered profes-
sional handler & Doberman breeder Erin Cody
to judge for us. Discussion ensued about the
CWA National. Bonnie reported that Cenario’s
Pizza will be offering a discount for our National
Pizza Party. Trader Joe’s will be coming with
complimentary treats on Saturday. Che suggest-
ed we set up a Google Doc for sign-up for the
different jobs at the National we are soliciting
help for from our members.
Lure Coursing: Guin reported on behalf of Jen
that the events made about $1300 after all ex-
penses are paid. We had a successful weekend
and it wasn’t too hot. No injuries on the field.
The other field in Fairfield declined our use, so
the search is back on for a suitable field to hold
coursing events on. We are looking in Vacaville/
Dixon area. The ideal field would be 6 acres
plus, unobstructed, fenced, irrigated (this is im-
portant!), and will allow off-lead dogs. The field
needs to be in the American Canyon, Fairfield,
Vacaville, Dixon, Napa triangle, unless someone
is willing to haul the trailer, in which case areas
further out from our trailer storage can be con-
sidered.
Show: Guin reported that since we will be hav-
ing a raffle & live auction at the CWA National at
the end of September, we have decided to can-
cel the Silent Auction at the Specialty this year.
Rescue: No report.
SPEED: Summer issue will be out in early June.
Website: No report.
Whippetbilia: No report.
Membership: Guin introduced Applicant Teresa
Hamilton, who is attending her second meeting.
Old Business: None noted.
New Business: Our next meeting will be held
Saturday, June 8th at Woofstock.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 PM.

Boss had an exciting Fall, winning BOS at
our NCWFA Specialty Show from the Lure
Coursing Dog Class; a first for this event!
This win is pictured on this cover & was
under respected whippet breeder-judge
Sharon Sakson. Boss won the most amazing
chair for Charlotte for this super big win!
Boss had even more fun late in September,
when he was bred to Kathy Kelly’s phenom-
enal coursing bitch “Stevie”. He is now the
daddy to seven beautiful and colorful
children, six girls and a boy, and all will be
seen in the ring and on the field this
summer and beyond.
The Big Boss Man also completed the
requirements for his Master Courser title at
the NCWFA November Lure Trial, round-
ing out an exciting 2018. He started off
2019 strong by completing his Grand
Championship Bronze level.
Boss is bred & owned by
Charlotte & Martha Fielder
[Crestfield] & is handled in all his
endeavors by Charlotte.

Several intrepid NCWFA members made the trip to Topeka KS for the American Whippet

premier whippet event. There were over 500 whippets shown in the conformation portion of
the Specialty, 100 in Obedience, 38 in the Triathlon, and 125 in the Lure Trial. As you can
see below, the NCWFA gang did fabulously!
Carson [Erynn Lucas] was High in Trial in Obedience & won the
Triathlon [combo of Obedience, Coursing & Conformation scores]
Carson covered himself in glory with an Award of Merit! There
were 150 champions entered! He also got a 5th in coursing.
Carson & Fini (Ed & MJ Odron) with their winning
obedience loot. Carson had a score of 197 in Novice B &
Fini had a 195 in Beg Nov A.
