schools to improve student achievement through the use of the continuous improvement models
School and Districts Being Served in 2008-09
Schools – 102 schools; 45 elementary, 25 middle, 32 high schools
Districts – 53
Eligibility Criteria In a Federal Step of Improvement State funds support improvement services and include schools
that do not receive Federal Title I funds Voluntary with 80% staff approval
Selection is based on a combination of criteria including the number of AYP cells not met and the numbers of students with low performance.

Summit District Improvement Initiative (SDII)
Increase the capacity of participating districts to accelerate achievement for all students across the district system of schools.
Develop and field test Summit Initiative program elements intended to strengthen and expand the knowledge base, tools, and training of WA educators in support of a systems approach that can, with sufficient funding, be scaled statewide.
