ACTIVE SAFETYHyundai SUV’s are available with the following active safety technologies.

ANTI–LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WITH ELECTRONIC BRAKEFORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBD)

To help keep you out of danger in emergency situations, ABS with EBD work to prevent the brakes from locking up, optimising braking pressure between the front and rear wheels to shorten braking distances.

BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEM (BAS)

BAS assesses how fast the brake pedal is pressed, then if an emergency is detected, instantly applies maximum force, thereby shortening braking distances.

VEHICLE STABILITY MANAGEMENT (VSM)

If you find yourself in a situation where your vehicle begins to skid away from your intended direction, VSM applies steering assistance, guiding you to the correct steering position to help you maintain control.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)

On the Highlander and SR variants, LDW uses a camera to scan the road ahead and will alert the driver if it senses the vehicle is unintentionally veering from it’s current lane.

HILL–START ASSIST CONTROL (HAC)

When a vehicle is on a steep incline, HAC will temporarily hold the vehicle after you take your foot off the brake. This gives the driver extra time to apply the throttle and accelerate away without the vehicle rolling back.

FRONT AND REAR PARK ASSIST

When reversing, rear sensors (across all variants) together with front sensors (in Tucson Highlander and Santa Fe Elite / Highlander / SR) emit an audible warning sound to alert you to objects that might be outside your field of vision.

REAR VIEW CAMERA

To assist you while parking in tight spots and to help avoid accidents, a rear view camera displays the area behind the vehicle in the centre console LCD colour touch screen.

LED DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (DRL)

LED DRLs integrated into the front bumper moulding create a striking impression and increase visibility of the vehicle to other road users.

AUTOMATIC DUSK SENSING HEADLIGHTS WITH ESCORT FUNCTION

To increase driving safety and the visibility of your vehicle to other drivers, headlights are automatically turned on as daylight begins to fade. When exiting the vehicle at night, the headlamps remain lit for a short period of time, illuminating the pathway ahead.

The All–New Tucson has an ANCAP 5 star safety rating and is equipped with a comprehensive six airbag safety system, including driver and front passenger airbags (to reduce head and neck injuries in the event of a head–on collision), nearside and offside curtain airbags (improving protection for the head in case of a side collision) and front side thorax airbags (to protect the chest and pelvis more effectively).

SANTA FE SERIES II

7–AIRBAGS

In the event of a collision, a comprehensive system of up to seven airbags are designed to be activated, depending on the area of impact. This includes driver and front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger side (thorax) and side curtain airbags (front and second row) as well as driver’s knee airbag.

INTUITIVE SAFETY TECHNOLOGIESIn addition to the vast array of active and passive safety systems that are common across the Hyundai SUV range, the All–New Tucson Highlander variant also includes Sensory Safety Technology.

AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB)

Combining radar and camera data, the AEB system autonomously activates the brakes when it detects dangerous and sudden braking by the car ahead or pedestrians on the road.

LANE KEEP ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS)

The system will assist by applying steering input to help keep the vehicle between the lane markings. It’s designed to prevent those moments when a lapse of concentration can cause the vehicle to stray outside the lane.

BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD)

When driving at a speed of 30km/h or higher, the BSD function will alert the driver to blind spot objects in close proximity, including during lane changes.

LANE CHANGE ASSIST (LCA)

The LCA system provides a visual warning when radars detect a vehicle that is approaching rapidly from the rear. When the turn signal is being used, a flashing warning as well as an audible alert, notify the driver of the potential hazard.

REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (RCTA)

When reversing at a low speed, objects approaching on the left and right side of the vehicle are detected and an alert is given to safely navigate a potentially dangerous situation.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)

A camera mounted on top of the windshield of Highlander variants, provides a cutting edge preventive safety mechanism by recognising lane departures that are not accompanied by a turn signal, and then initiating an alert to the driver.

PARK ASSIST SYSTEM (PAS)

When parking, eight surround sensors emit an audible warning sound to alert you to objects that might be outside your field of vision.

KEEPING YOU CONNECTED TO YOUR WORLDThe All–New Tucson’s hi–tech in–dash touch screen is a lifestyle, multimedia and navigation hub that keeps you switched on and connected with your world, wherever you’re travelling.

Active and Active X variants include a 7" touch screen audio system with MP3 compatability and six speakers. The system will support Apple CarPlay™^ (when connected to a compatible iPhone®† with mobile data access).

Elite and Highlander variants feature an 8" touch screen satellite navigation and audio system with MP3 capability and six speakers. ELITE & HIGHLANDERThe All–New Tucson Elite and Highlander offer an even higher level of standard specifications and design touches that add further comfort and convenience for both passengers and driver.

The beautiful electroluminescent supervision cluster (Highlander only) incorporates a 4.2" colour TFT display, putting important driver information in clear sight. Likewise, the driver’s 10–way adjustable power seat with two–way power lumber support, and the 8–way adjustable front passenger seat (Highlander only), optimise comfort no matter the length of the journey. In Highlander, the addition of ventilation and heating to the front seats makes for an even more luxurious experience.

Solar glass keeps the heat out of the cabin, while tinted rear privacy glass prevents prying eyes from seeing what you’re carrying. Heated external mirrors (that fold electronically) make driving easier and safer on cold dewy mornings.

Exterior styling enhancements include a chrome effect on the front hexagonal grille as well as on the door frame, belt lining and door handles. SENSORY SAFETYIn addition to the host of safety features which come standard on all Santa Fe Series II vehicles, the Highlander and SR variants also boast some of the latest cutting-edge sensory safety technology.

AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB)

Combining radar and camera data, the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system activates the brakes when it detects dangerous, sudden braking by the car ahead.

FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW)

This system helps to alert you of approaching objects and detects relative speeds between the vehicle and obstacles on the road to warn against a potential collision.

BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD)

When driving at a speed of 30km/h or higher, the BSD function will alert the driver to blind spot objects in close proximity, including during lane changes.

LANE CHANGE ASSIST (LCA)

The LCA system provides a visual warning when radars detect a vehicle that is approaching rapidly from the rear. When the turn signal is being used, a flashing warning as well as an audible alert, notify the driver of the potential hazard.

REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (RCTA)

When reversing at a low speed, objects approaching on the left and right side of the vehicle are detected and an alert is given to safely avoid a potentially dangerous situation.

SMART PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM (SPAS)*

The SPAS safely steers the car in and out of parking spots, in ‘Reverse Parking (90º)’, ‘Parallel Parking’ and ‘Exit’ modes. All you need do is press the accelerator, brake and gear levers as necessary.

SMART CRUISE CONTROL (SCC)

A radar in the front grille helps to automatically regulate the speed preset by the driver (between 30-180km/h), while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicles ahead.
