Engineer’s day is celebrated throughout the country on 15 September. In our college we have celebrated Engineer’s

Day on 14th September 2015 as “Aavishkar 2015” under the banner of ISTE Students’ Chapter, SVIT. Aim behind

organizing “Aavishkar” was to motivate our students for preparation of technical projects with innovative ideas and

implement these ideas subsequently in new technical horizons. This event was organized first time in our college and

it was conceptualised by our Principal Dr. Jayesh V. Deshkar. Not only that, he has taken keen interest for frame work

of the event and its entire execution. The motive of organizing Aavishkar was also to provide a platform to our

students to exhibit their talents first at college level, refine and improvise it and prepare them to excel their talents for

real world. As a part of the celebrations various activities and competitions for the students were organized. These

events include Preparation of Demonstration Model, Preparation of Working Model/ Project/ Software, Innovative

idea with proposed field of implementation, Poster presentation and Technical quiz.

POSTER PRESENTATIONIn this event Student/s have participated individual capacity or a team. A

poster representing new technical idea or procedure were prepared and

demonstrated by the participants. Topics for Poster Presentation include

wide variety like Energy savings, Solar Energy, Green House Effect, Radia-

tion effects on human bodies, Global warming, Water Harvesting, Pollution

and remedies, Biogas, Technology in Agriculture, Recent trends in automo-

biles, Recycling of waste, Internet security, Cloud computing, Data base

management, Nanotechnology, Embedded systems in human life, Robotics

in Industrial automation. The event got huge response and total 185 students

participated in various categories and 65 students were declared meritori-

ous.

DEMONSTRATION OF MODEL

This event provided opportunity to the students to prepare a demonstration

model of any structure, equipment, machine, mechanism etc. In many engi-

neering disciplines like civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aeronauti-

cal engineering and electrical engineering such physical models serve

important purpose to explain phenomenon, components and various techni-

calities. A total of 50 students participated in the event and 15 were declared

as winners.WORKING MODELA Physical working model/ technical project or mathematical software were

prepared and demonstrated by various teams of students. In this category

students from engineering disciplines like computer engineering, Information

technology, electronics and communication, Instrumentation and control,

M.C.A. had taken large interest. Though the event was challenging, it was

very well received by the students and 110 students participated in the

event. Out of that performance of 35 students was outstanding and they

were declared winners.

INNOVATIVE IDEAPotential innovative idea along with its possible technical field of implemen-

tation was the tasks for participants of this event. The participating students

presented innovative idea through PPT, poster, prototype, model, etc.

Though the event frame work was challenging, many good ideas came up.

In this event 45 students have participated and 20 were declared as winners

in various categories.

TECHNICAL QUIZA quiz covering aspects of science, engineering and mathematics was or-

ganized and teams comprising 3 students have participated. The quiz was

conducted in total three rounds. The quiz also attracted huge response and

more than 250 students participated in it. Three teams were declared as
